Humm....
Would you like to take this outside? What are you trying to say?

As per last comment I made on "Spanking Prompt". I was outed as a Spanker many years ago, but I came out as a Spankee much more recently.
It was a confused situation involving a young girl I was spanking, her Dom's dungeon and my curiosity. I found that I loved it.
Has it changed my macho personality? My friends would say not a bit. I am still very much an Alpha male, driving, navigating, climbing, kayaking, hiking, skiing, always the one pushing the envelope. Maybe that's why I am a spankee?
I do enjoy being spanked by a woman as much as I enjoy spanking one. Not necessarily the same one, though, not that many girls can switch.

If by "less of a man" you mean "unmanly" then by traditional standards? Absolutely! That's what makes it so damned fun! Why else would it be desirable to add some cheek-baring frillies on occasion to accentuate the situation?

Denying the unmanly aspect of being submissive seems to attribute some sort of importance to "manliness". For me, "manly" may as well be regarded as significant as any other descriptive adjective like 'short' or 'freckled'. As a writer, the connotations of words are critical. Who here would write a story with a line like: "Fred felt very manly as he lowered his pants and bent across the waiting lap." ? It's absurd.

Perhaps for those who rankle at being considered "unmanly", a better question would be "why?" Is traditional manliness in any way significant to being a man? For me "being a man" means having honor, compassion, courage, empathy, and a sense of personal responsibility that leads to trying to solve any problem or emergency. These are traits that are not automatic just because someone considers themselves some macho "Alpha". (And don't get me started on "Alphas"! LOL)

However, if by "less of a man" you mean someone less capable of having the attributes I mentioned, then I would say "no". But then, having "manly" attributes is no guarantee of being MORE of a man either. Think of it this way: John Wayne is probably easily considered more traditionally "manly" than say someone like James Stewart who did play some tough guys, but also guys like Elwood P. Dowd in "Harvey" and was caught washing dishes in an apron in "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance". But Wayne as a person was not much of a man, whereas, while not perfect, Stewart was.

You could say we are defining "man" by the way we answer this question and others. For example - Is a man who works as a nurse less of a man? Another emphatic NO! from me. Is a man who's quick to use his fists more of a man? NO! NO! NO!

I have wondered if males who let themselves be spanked or who seek out others to spank them are less of a man then those who do not.

Odd question from a chap who wears a skirt.

Ooooooooh! brodiejlb! That's fighting talk, especially when talking to a scot! LOL

Which leads neatly to ask if fighting is manly!?

This is very true KDP. Though to be fair on Wayne he was only acting the tough guy for entertainment purposes. The Hollywood propaganda machine tries to fool us it is full of 'genuine' people, but we know the truth, the place is a moral cesspit and always has been.

No it does not. I consider myself very masculine and yet I do enjoy going over the knee for a good spanking every once in a while. I also enjoy giving a good spanking over my knee. Consensual is the key word here. No one could spank me if I didn't consent and I would never be willing to give a spanking that wasn't requested.

I haven't noticed feeling less of a man. It is the exact opposite. I am more comfortable in my own skin and I am a more rounded person these days.

Not only am I a spankee but I am also bisexual so I have really explored what it is to be a man and am very comfortable with my masculinity.

So, even more of a man then!

Although I thought the original question posed was silly, it's achieved perhaps its intention in stimulating good discussion, and it's great to see how enlightened are the views of masculinity being proposed here.
