Then it's a deluge, but I can live with that.

A bit unpleasant, receiving all those comments at once, but an author sometimes has to suffer for his(her) art.

rollin:
Authors don't know anything until it's over.

Februs has done a pretty good job of expunging every possible bit of information an author (or any member) might discern prior to the end of voting. It wasn't always thus. I once had the surprise of finding on the list of most-commented stories my entry from the Challenge then underway. Unfortunately, despite my immediate report to Februs, few enough people rushed to bolster their votes for me that I still finished out of the running.

Oh - and to return to the original topic, it appears we now only need 50 comments/day for the remainder of July in order to set a new monthly record. I don't want to start a premature celebration, but....

I'd better read a story and comment then instead of reading the forum.

Yes, for efficiency we need a little division of labor round here. I'M handling reading the Forum.

My priority (I think I got some sort of management directive a while back) is to make sure no post on the Forum goes without a response. If people stop posting here, maybe I can squeeze in a few story comments.

And ignore my duty? Oh, so you want me to get FIRED, do you? Where else am I going to find a six-figure job with these hours?

You mean where the hours are 24/7, and the six figures are $000000?

Not true! I only have to wonder in and out of the Forum a few times a day. The quoted compensation, however, is reasonably accurate. At least until I enter into my next round of salary negotiations, in which I'll be shooting for a 20% increase.

I think y'all are hysterical. Being a newbee to this site, it's kind of hard to open up and say something constructive after reading a new story...mostly because I'm usually squirming a little (or a lot) remembering all the fun things I just read. Sometimes, though, all the WHAP, SLAP, SPLAT, OH, OWs inserted into the story line remind me of an old Bat Man TV show. Might be too much caffeine on my part, though. I'm just enjoying the fantasies out here in the middle of New Mexico's high mountain desert.
