Thus far in July, we've been averaging just over 170 comments per day. At this rate, we would end the month with the astounding total of over 5,200. The current record is a measly 3,758 set in March.

At first I attributed this to the comments being made on Challenge entries. We started March the same way when the voting on the Letter Challenge was underway. Yet the pace of comments has continued in July even as the reading of Challenge entries has slowed.

Even assuming that the commenting slows up, we still only need an average of fewer than 91 comments per day for the rest of the month to top March. The last time we had a slower pace than this was January of 2011.

Don't let up now, folks. A new record is well within reach!

Why does that phrase bring up images of analingus? Oh never mind. I know why. It's because I have a dirty mind. (Which is a lot more fun than a clean one)

I think this place self-selects for that just a tad.
I shall endeavour to keep contributing to the comments!

ANd so you should dund93... otherwise it will be hairbrush firmly against cheek, should you to be reported to Mrs Dund for your failure to provide lashings of erudite comments!

There really is no excuse for that. It's ALWAYS possible to find something nice to say, eg

"The part of your story I liked best was the title"

OR

"I see your story was 2965 words. That's just the perfect length in my opinion."

The rest was rubbish!

Shame it was 2965 words of unadulterated tedium!

Glad to hear it as it's embarrassing seeing authors sitting on the pavement outside the library holding placards begging for comments.

I only did that once! And there were extenuating circumstances. Besides, the only comments I got were "Ewww, you're derivative!" and "Get a thesaurus, ya bum!"
