Hairbrushedhubby gets my vote for the best nickname yet. Loved it!

I dunno. I'm kinda partial to Eiffel Crisp myself. Perhaps we should put it to a vote, while we're waiting for the next story (verse) contest. Others mentioned in this thread that should be considered are: Guyde, Februs, DanielSwottem5, PinkAngel, TheEnglishMaster, flowerchild, Goodgulf, flopsybunny, shono, rollin and Kephren. And we can't forget bleemp. Sorry, Linda, you'd be with me on the sidelines for this one.

flopsybunny:
I admit I STOLE my name from a Beatrix Potter character.I guess most people (in the UK anyway!) have heard of the flopsy bunnies ..... I think one of them was caught by Mr McGregor and put into a pie! PS Here's part of The Tale of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix PotterOnce upon a time there were four little Rabbits, and their names were-- Flopsy, Mopsy, Cotton-tail, and Peter.

I am a little late with this but I always thought Flopsybunny got her name from the song

"Little Bunny Foo Foo hopping down the bunny trail
Picking up field mice
And bopping them on the head"

I know everyone can see how I came to this conclusion, change a few words (Foo Foo to Flopsbunny) and so forth, clear connection as I see it.

Anyway that is the way I see it in this frozen north country, there are many stories to be told and this is just one of many of the stories yet to be told.

I think I explained a couple of pages ago...

When I first started posting I did mostly parodies, so I took my name from a parody of Lord of the Rings called Bored of the Rings. Goodgulf led Frito, Spam, and the others on the quest to destroy the Ring.

It was a nice book - and has nothing to do with the Gulf coast.

RedHunter is an old game name I have used since I was a kid in acrade games when you enter names. Also when I played in online games(for the most part). I have red hair and I have always been accused of "moving like a hunter" whatever the hell that means. So it seemed natural to combine the 2.

I suppose I should come out to you all.

I'm opb - obviously, and it comes from being an Oxpolyboy. The much(?) lamented Oxford Polytechnic has now been gentrified into Oxford Brookes University. And I'm a boy - well, a man.

So I took the nom de plume Ollie Patbotham ( pronounced pat-bottom here and pa-botham in vanilla circles if required) to ape the acronym.

Easy.

And yes, Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny got switched by Benjamin's father in The Tale of Benjamin Bunny.

Benjamin himself goes on to marry Flopsy ( Peter's sister, remember) and their children ( kittens?) are generally called "The Flopsy Bunnies" who narrowly escape the McGregor Pie fate befallen by their great uncle ( Peter's Dad)

There. What does it signify that I know too much about Beatrix Potter?

My first name is spelled with a J, but English speaking people tend to believe, that the J is pronounced like the J in John, so I changed it to Y. That is why.

I picked billboard because when I was thinking about a pen name, I was driving along a freeway and I passed one of those billboards that had some catchy "made you look - rent a billboard" messages. I thought since I'm so interested in paddles, bill board made a lot of sense. I had considered "bob" - but bobboard just seemed stupid.

BTW, Galt54, Ayn Rand had the central influence on my life as well. I cannot count the number of times I've read John Galt's radio speech. I do not call myself an "Objectivist" per se, because I do buy all of the philosophy - but my work belongs to me and me alone. I don't "owe" anything to anyone based on their "need."

Since this thread last died about two years ago, I'll bet we have added over 100 authors. Some of you folks have created very interesting pen names. Do you want to tell us about them?
