Is This Spanking Thing Hereditary?

When I was a kid back in the Jurassic food was very different. We're pretty much land locked here so there wasn't any fresh seafood avilable. People thought you were a rebel if you used anything other than salt and pepper to flavour your cooking. We had red meat, spuds, carrots, and whatever else we could grow in the garden.

Now everything is different. We've discovered curries and spices, vegetables are no longer boiled to mush. There are still a few holdouts who refuse to try Indian, Mexican, Vietnamese, or sushi, claiming raw fish is nothing more than "bait," but these bland palate guys are becoming fewer all the time.

I live in a city of about a million people, and we have a pretty good choice of food from different cultures here, not to mention the horrible fast food places like McDonalds that seem to be on every corner, so we are slowly learning that there is more to the world than roast beef, mashed potatoes, and Saskatoon pie.

Saskatoon pie? Whats that? Local meat pie dishes can be very tasty. (if that's what it is)

In the upper half of Michigan you can find some wonderful meat pasties. In south America they call much the same thing an empenada. And then there is the Jamaican meat pie...

Saskatoons are something like a huckleberry only more red in color.

Saskatoons grow on shrubs near riverbanks all through Western Canada. Bears love 'em. Even now you have to be careful if you are picking saskatoons not to annoy a bear.

In the olden days the Indians would pound saskatoon berries into dried buffalo meat to make pemmican. These days saskatoon berries mostly used for great pies and pancake syrup.

I lived in the USA for 11 years when I was a child. The best kind of typically American food is, in my opinion, the fruit and berry pies. I absolutely *adore* blueberry pie, mincemeat pie, pecan pie, apple pie and many more of the fancifull variations on that theme. Of course, since I was a child when I lived in America, I probably had a child´s typical fancy for *sweet* kinds of foods. That would explain why I feel that the pies were the best typical American foods, and that the ice creams were the second best. America has the best ice cream in the world, to the best of my knowledge.

I don't think it's a "spanking gene" perse but there are those people who are born to control. Things make their palms itch, they break out in a cold sweat when you are late or don't ring on time, they insist on a regular bedtime, etc. They are known by various titles and they all have one thing in common. Yep and they are Tops. Adam is so anal it's ridiculous, whicis one of those words I am never sure I've spelt correctly. So I guess that bears out that the spanking gene is inherited too? LOL

I wonder if my wife, Thi, could be "anally retentive"? She sure has a short fuse at any rate. She is somewhat of a shrew. She blows her top over such small things, such as my forgetting to make a phone call, or not washing the dishes to her satisfaction.
