Forms of Humiliation In Spanking Stories

For me, humiliation comes around midway along a scale running from embarrassment to degradation. The stories I best enjoy (and generally write) would usually involve emotions somewhere along the first half of the scale. Anything beyond that, for me, is a turn-off.

Since most of the stories I write feature spankers who are at least fond of their spankees, I don't generally describe the victims as being "humiliated," because I do consider that term to be rather close to "degraded."

"Extremely embarrassed" and "humbled," however, are feelings that I greatly enjoy a spanking recipient to experience since they should be part of serious corporal correction, and the former one often a desired aspect of undergoing even a fun/playful spanking...

I see the level of humiliation relates to what the spankee feels about the situation, using extreme examples, if a stripper was to receive a bare bottomed spanking in front of witnesses, then there would be likely less feelings of humiliation compared to say a nun in the same spanking scenario.

To degrade has wide connotations, the stereotypical scolding most definitely has a degrading element, the judge when handing down their sentence often make remarks about the guilty person that are degrading.

Again it comes down to what we like, dislike, or have preferences for within spanking fiction.

I'm not ashamed to state the obvious - there just might be a story there!

Nudity, prudity and purity a fine mix indeed, 'habit' forming one could say.

One idea that I've mentally played with is the unexpected humiliation...

For example, getting a secret thrill by being in a semi-public place, but one that you're sure is empty. Say a rest stop on a decommissioned highway or even your backyard when you know that all your neighbours are at work or school - and suddenly realising that you're not alone, but the person spanking you either doesn't care or hasn't noticed that there's a witness.

That's a mix of consensual (because the spanking is consensual) and humiliation (because the witness is unexpected) that could be fun to work with.

I agree with CK and others, in that embarrassment (though not humiliation) is a desirable part of a spanking. I think it is important in many types of spankings that the feeling of embarrassment lasts after - sometimes long after - the spanking, and it's resulting discomfort/soreness/redness are long gone. Something that might provoke a knowing smile or a giggle from the spanker, and a blush from the spankee, each time (if/when) they see each other again.

I am glad brodiejlb made the distinction between embarrassment and humiliation. If I am watching a video that begins to include humiliation (degrading language for example) it is an automatic click-off. I love embarrassment though- the more the better. For me it is enhanced if the spanker is determined to do the job, but understanding or almost sweet about the exposed positions he/she is forced to put the spankee into. The one being spanked is very embarrassed, but also excited on some level- sometimes overtly, with and erection or obvious sign of wetness. Shyness and embarrassment, but ultimate submission are what its all about for me. Witnesses definitely pick up the game.

When I was a grade school student, embarrassment was part and parcel of the punishment process. When a teacher decided a student was to be paddled, he or she was taken into the hall and paddled, within earshot of the class, with the resulting embarrassment of returning to class with everyone watching your every move. As long as you took your punishment reasonably well, no more was said. One teacher crossed the line into humiliation by heckling and mocking those whom she had paddled. Her contract wasn't renewed at the end of the school year. therefore for me, embarrassment can be part of a punishment, humiliation isn't.

Shame was often a part of punishment in school, at least when I went. I'm not sure if that's still the case, but then again I don't know if I want to know.
