They are indeed, the staple diet of the library staff

No. (Potato) chips are things roughly slug-shaped and served with fish or pies. You call them Fried French or something like that. PS - they are not the toothpick substitutes you get in McDonalds and suchlike.

How can you eat chips without salt? It's simply not done. The more salt the better I say. What about favourite chip flavours? I quite like plain and salt and vinegar. I also like chicken, but only if done properly, and the only company down here that does good chicken chips is Samboy and they don't do big packets.

Has to be salt first Seegee, then a good cheese and onion, salt and vinegar and chilli doritos: or Hot 'n' Spicy pringles up2:

I did, I meant the sliced very thin potatos that are baked or fried and crunchy and come in bags with far too much salt in my not so humble opinion Not french fries which I guess is what you call chips

And, sea salt and vinegar are the best I think, though can only eat a few at a time.

Yes, I believe that you're correct...

British "Crisps"=American "Potato chips"

British "Chips"=American "French fries"

I'm pretty certain that the potato chip (crisp) was invented in the U.S.A., in fact in upstate New York (Saratoga).

Down here in the Lone Star State (Texas), the most popular flavor of potato chips (other than the salted regular) is predictably 'mesquite barbeque.' However, if I consume those kind then my wife claims that I have "chippie breath" and won't kiss me unless/until I brush my teeth or use mouthwash. (At least she isn't accusing me of having kissed a cheap young woman, which could be another interpretation of "chippie breath.")

As I understand it, only the continued availability of crisps (potato chips) keeps this Library from becoming highly dysfunctional... --C.K.

I thought it was the continued availability of sherry or other alcoholic beverages

Pernod or whisky definitely helps but crisps are compulsory too!

French fries on the other hand are a British invention and it goes right back to the year 1430 in the town of Rouen.
