PinkAngel: Ooo I though she meant potato chips, like crisps not chips like French fries... Hey ho, I must need to eat more and learn the difference
I did, I meant the sliced very thin potatos that are baked or fried and crunchy and come in bags with far too much salt in my not so humble opinion Not french fries which I guess is what you call chips
And, sea salt and vinegar are the best I think, though can only eat a few at a time.
Yes, I believe that you're correct...
British "Crisps"=American "Potato chips"
British "Chips"=American "French fries"
I'm pretty certain that the potato chip (crisp) was invented in the U.S.A., in fact in upstate New York (Saratoga).
Down here in the Lone Star State (Texas), the most popular flavor of potato chips (other than the salted regular) is predictably 'mesquite barbeque.' However, if I consume those kind then my wife claims that I have "chippie breath" and won't kiss me unless/until I brush my teeth or use mouthwash. (At least she isn't accusing me of having kissed a cheap young woman, which could be another interpretation of "chippie breath.")
As I understand it, only the continued availability of crisps (potato chips) keeps this Library from becoming highly dysfunctional... --C.K.
