I have made 1 comment with over 1000 stories read.I didn,t know that it was obligatory. Now trying to make more comments the program doesn,t let me in because I haven,t made my second comment.

It's not obligatory to comment on stories, but members who have viewed over 500 stories need to comment at least once every 500 stories viewed in order to benefit from an unlimited number of story views a day. They can still choose not to comment of course but will have a limit on how many stories they can view each day (determined by how many stories they have viewed in total). Given the vast amount of time involved in making close on 10,000 stories available, not to mention the generosity of the many authors in sharing them, we don't think it's unreasonable to expect the occasional comment.

Members can comment on stories they have read at ANY time, they don't have to be commented on from within the story viewer. All you need to do is click the comment icon found at the end of the line wherever the stories are listed. See the Help section.

Is the 1 comment to 500 views a new thing?

If so, has it improved the commenting rate?

It's been in place a couple of weeks or so, although it doesn't apply to contributing authors. You can see directly what it has done to the rate of commenting by having a look at the Comments section of the Stats page ...

I was wondering as to the average amount of stories read per person, in one day. What is the highest amount read from a single person, in one day. Average and maximum. I can't understand the idea of a reader only making one single comment in 500 stories. To make that small amount is just plain lazy. If they don't have the time to comment, maybe they should read less and comment more.

I couldn't agree more, Sebastian. For all the time it takes to type, 'Loved the twist at the end,' or 'So glad she got what she was asking for,' I simply can't believe that anyone doesn't have 'time'.

Absolutely! I guess, though, if a reader's goal is to zip thorugh 13 stories in 20 minutes (yes, I've seen it happen), that doesn't leave much time for posting.

Not everyone wishes, wants or needs to comment on what they have read, its a personel thing. If on the other hand you want to make, making a comment a necessity for the use of the Library thats ok. What I find frustrating is that I keep getting messages restricting my use of the library to a very small number of items per 24 hours, if you really want my comments let me read the stories! Another point of disagreement is that I have now tried to leave comments where I can but they do not seem to register--why is this?
