Please don't classify among the grammar police, but I'm seeing "noone" around so often that I'm wondering if it's on its way to being accepted English. Myself, I prefer "nobody" or "no-one", or sometimes I re-write the sentence completely to avoid the issue.

I'm not aiming at any particular author. I've seen it in multiple stories here, as well as most everywhere else on the Internet.

Am I just an old fogy? Should I find a support group? Take a pill? Spank or get spanked?

I'd say that's sheer laziness.

I agree with you, Guy. Just because you see "noone" being used doesn't make it correct. I was always taught that it is two separate words. It is one of those things that makes a reader pause because, at first glance, it reads like "noon." A word should not cause a reader stop mid-sentence to decipher its meaning.

You are not alone. Together, we are strong. Noone shall stand against us.

Quite possibly it is. Along with 'it's' for 'its'.... (Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?)

Personally, I much prefer 'no-one' and would recommend all the various courses of action you referred to (apart from "get spanked").

The trouble is, 'noone' looks like a mis spelling of 'noon' to me.

However, 'no one' sounds a little stilted, 'no-one' is probably the best.

Nobody does it better

Personally I prefer no-one or no one, but I think they hyphen is best since it joins the words as one, appropriate to the meaning. Noone seems like it should be pronounced the same as 'noon', if the pronunciation laws of English are anything to go by, where the final e softens the vowel sound!

Hmmm, I think spanking is the best course of action here, Guy, with you waving the paddle in the general direction of anyone (or any one, or any-one) who doesn't realise that noone is just plain wrong!!!!!
