Sounds to me as though you are putting yourself under a lot of pressure! There is no 'ought to' on here, there is no commitment to write to a time-scale. The site is here for those that have 10mins every few days or those that want to sit on it for hours and hours at a time. The important thing about the site is, enjoy what time you can spend on it and not spend that time worrying about what you think you should have done.

Please, just give yourself a break and enjoy

Can i just say that like most authors i love getting comments and quite often find myself giggling in pleasure and hugging myself at the thought that people actually like what i write. It would never occur to me to send someone a pop up asking about what they like so i agree with flopsy on that. i know and am ashamed that i make far fewer comments than i get but i do find my time reading very limited. I sort of think that the whole site is amazing and i don't think we should beat ourselves up too much about fewer comments than we would like. if the statistics showed that we were turning readers off then it might be different but they don't.

Oh and yes my family do think i'm very strange to be giggling and hugging myself for no apparent reason so no smart remarks you lot at the back!

I agree that comments are unpredictable. I have posted stories and gotten a number of comments after they have posted and then it dies to nothing. Then months later I have gotten several comments about the same story on the same day. Why did several people choose to comment on the same story after months of no comments? Who knows.

That's probably because someone stumbled across it and posted a comment, then others read that recent entry in the "Commented" section and decided to read your story based on what it said.

I sometimes decide to read a particular story based on comments made by other readers of it... --C.K.

The Library has members from about 60 countries where English is not spoken. English is a easy language to read but difficult to write if you have it as second or third language. But of course everyone can write "this is a good story" . I am very glad to have my country's flag besides my name, so everyone can understand I am writing in a for me foreign language and not expect perfect grammar. I hope more members from the world outside US and UK dare to comment and post stories.

Heck - a lot of Americans (and maybe some Brits) don't have such a great grasp of the English language & grammar. It looks to me as if you're doing just fine. I'm glad that you and others around the globe daring to participate here.

Just to add a quick note to say don't forget to comment on any articles you might find of interest in the Wellred Weekly as hopefully that will encourage other people to write articles in the future. Thankee kindly.

Are you suggesting we comment in WW or are you thinking we might want to say things on the forum?
There are several great articles in WW 4 that I thought were great and commented there, but could be mentioned here as well.

As a new author here, I must say... I LOVE comments. I usually (at least so far) try to acknowledge the comment in a pop-up message.

I like all kinds of comments, from the brown-nosing sycophantic ("Oh, Catharsis... I am agog at your writing skills. Would you please just send me your grocery list? Even that will have enough good writing to inspire my own halting attempts!") to the brutally accurate ("You clearly think more about the spanking than good grammar, usage, and plot development. Keep your hands on the keyboard and your mind on your words!")

Thank you, Commenters all!

I thank all you have commented recently(and in the more distant past) on my stories. Do wish I had more comments on my "Claudia" stories- they were a great favorite when I originally posted them at Spankspot( a site little active anymore). And those who liked my first "Renee" story-Still Not too old, might enjoy a sequel, "Red for Renee."
Notice , at least in terms of comments(9) my most popular story seems to be Cara's Bikini vs.Mom's Paddle-surely the title!
Let me add that what has really impressed me here has been the quality and originality of the writing. There's not the fill up the page approach by repeating the word SMACK or WHAP over and over. I see a story like and give it little of my time.

I do comment, though perhaps not often enough. And nine time out of ten, I get a nice thank-you from the author. This is most kind. But that and the fact that most other commentators are highly complimentary makes me hesitant to submit critical comments.

I once got into a chat with one of the authors here, asked him to comment on a story of my own, and got loads of critical but very useful pointers. As far as I'm concerned, that is the best kind of feedback.

Compliments are nice to get, but solid and helpful criticism is better, I believe.
