To paraphrase controversial science fiction author Harlan Ellison, what defines science fiction is one phrase, "What if." Science fiction is basically all about that what if scenario
and you have to work within it and not break any already established rules.

Precisely, so to me that world is so much larger than the realistic one. As an author, you can get away with less rules, as long as you follow them, but a good sci-fi works within its boundaries. Say, shall we all go back into our chambers now and write one sci-fi each?

I think you can count me out. Not because I have anything against the genre, but as I almost never read sci-fi stories or books, I feel uncomfortable with the rules and conventions, and if I were to try, I would probably only reinvent some trite old theme that was abandon fifty years ago. My only attempts at sci-fi so far were so weak that the validators didn't even recognize them as such, but classified them as "general" instead. (I was, however, very proud when a commentator indicated that I had taken a overdose of Matrix - a movie I have never watched.)

See?? You're a born natural. You just have to let it out. We all have one good sci-fi inside. It's all about picking the blue or the red pill. The right one and you might come out as a notorious sci-fi spanking author

Sounds perfect to me, a spanking spoof rewrite of an old novel. Believe me, it's just what the world (or at least I) need.

I don't know whether you consider it SciFi, but two of my contributions might be considered.
Firstly "In the care of an android" looks forward to the near future when general purpose humanoid robots will be available to provide personal care.
Secondly many years ago I wrote a Doctor Who spin off which envisions the maternal relationship between Barbara and Susan.

That one absolutely qualifies, with the exception that it is three years old so it doesn't help when it comes to breaking up my two year stretch being the only author contributing with sci-fi to the site. How about a sequel? It would be wonderful if you could spin your story further.

I've written more than a few stories that fall into various genres of science fiction that feature spanking. I doubt they'd be acceptable here in the library because they aren't strictly speaking spanking stories.

I'm not certain what you mean. If they feature spankings, I'm fairly certain that they qualify for the library. Give it a go. You might be positively surprised - and I'd get happy as well.

And so it finally happened When submitting “Spanked in Space” on Nov. 6th, Flatfish broke my sad stretch of sci-fi stories which I was whining about earlier. I was the only contributor reaching all the way back to September 2022, back when Dr. Keate threw in the last submission before my painfully long twelve story monopoly of the subject. In addition to revitalizing the subject, it was an outstanding submission from Flatfish. It wasn't just a story which happened to be set in a sci-fi environment. No, the plot lovingly makes use of the lack of gravity, both for the cause of the spanking and as an integrated part of the act itself, therefore making it a true sci-fi. Apart from being spot on, it was cloaked in the usual wit, humor and romance which often are reflected in this author's stories. It was truly a brilliant submission. Thanks Flatfish! I'm looking forward to see more of your contributions.

My goodness, this has generated a lot of correspondence, even if you ignore the diversion into the origins of the word "English".

Way back I promised to write an SF spanking story in response to Gloup/Gagla's appeal. It is finished but not yet submitted to the site as I have an historic novella submitted but not yet loaded. Once that appears ("The Philanthropist") I will submit the SF story--also a novella in several chapters and probably to be called "Rest and Recreation".

It concerns the visit of a spaceship of the Galactic Community to a rather backward planet where judicial and other CP is employed. Two girls from the ship go down to the planet for R & R (principally sex and recreational spanking, which are forbidden on the ship) and are arrested for their spanking activities (assault).

The inevitable occurs and they are, in the words of one of them, (judicially) spanked for spanking. The law, wherever you are, is often illogical.

Geoffrey Stirling.
