Picture Story Challenge, August 2011

You yawn in your own time!! Come on look lively!! Get validating I shall expect another 5,000 validations done by Christmas or I shall be having a word with Februs!

I am deeply ashamed. I submitted mine although it was barely an 8, probably more like a 7.5

I always give mine a ten! No point in being hard on yourself! And will you stop yawning when I am typing Your Pinkness!!!

Interesting side note about this. In the very first contest each voter had ten votes to distribute. I had 3 entries but voted only for other entries, not my own. Had I voted even 2 votes for each of my 3 stories, one of them would have tied for third place, 3 votes would have given it 3rd place, and had I placed all 10 on the "right" story (which to be frank, was my strongest entry), it would have come in second. I'm not saying what the right thing to do is either way. I'm saying whatever you decide, it can make a difference.

Ok, if you insist, I'll give myself a 10. And with a little help from Februs, I may even be able to turn that into a 12......

If you submit two or more stories, it's very likely you feel one is better than another. If you give them all ten, you fail to reflect this difference. Besides, I've made favourites of stories I gave 8 to (very good, but a few were better). A story worth making a favourite is a story I think was well worth posting. Besides, I may think my story's the best when I post it, but on reading other entires, I may find a few I think are better. Those should then get higher marks than mine.

Anyway, "If a thing's worth doing, it's worth doing badly" (Oscar Wilde).

I don't see why you could not think they were equally good--maybe not 10's--you might feel they were both 9's or 8's. The point is they might be just as "good" but for different reasons. Why believe that you have to grade yourself on a curve?

I believe the democratic party and its leader are following Oscar Wilde's dictum to a T. After reading all the responses, I decided to give myself a 10. At least I will get one.

Go on be a devil Barrett! Give yourself a whopping great 10!! Otherwise you will have a bigger halo than Her Pinkness!!
