Aw, c'mon, don't be so hard on yourself. You're not mean.

Having read and rated all the fine entries I can only say one thing. Please no more broken vases and riding crops for at least a month. You were all great, some greater than others but I guess that's how you pick a winner.

If that makes you a mean old bastard, then I hate to think what the scores I've given make me. Oh, well - no one ever accused me of being nice (or young, for that matter).

And please, please no more balls through windows!

My average score was only 5.14.

Now that you mention it, (way too late, I might add ) we could have invented methods of shattering windows more creatively than writing simple missiles into our stories. Household explosives anyone?

I have also completed the entire list, and I have to say that if anyone should dare to give me, will to me, or otherwise invest me with an heirloom vase, I will be contacting islandcarol for her recipe for Molotov cocktails.

I am surprised no one wrote about an opera singer...wish I'd thought of that before just now.

Oh yes. Not only the window, but there goes the vase and all the heirloom crystal glasses, too.

Oh stop! Stop!

No No. It's not over yet, because the 'fat lady sung.'

I am quite surprised by the number of votes that have been cast.
As of posting: 30673

I had mistakenly assumed that it would be mainly the authors voting....what a shocker !!

Assume the entrants (72 of them) averaged 60 votes each...giving 4300 votes.
That leaves an amazing number cast by members who didn't enter.

Rick, I am sure you will do your magic after the event and give us all the stats ?

I think the votes are counted by the number - i.e. if you give a story 5 points, it counts as 5 "votes" in the system. If the average score is in the 5-6 range, each person voting for all the stories contribute around 400 votes (I seem to have contributed 388), indicating that 75-80 "full votes" have been cast (a "full vote" being a person voting on all the stories). Not all votes are full, some authors have multiple entries, and some authors may not vote at all, but I would still guess that the number of non-author votes is rather low.
