I think the perfect response to this debate would be to have ChatGPT answer the question itself.

Once upon a time, there was an online forum dedicated to spanking stories, where authors of all levels of experience could share their work and creations with each other. The members of the forum were passionate about their craft, and they often discussed the latest trends and techniques in the art of spanking stories.

One day, the members of the forum were shocked to learn that a company had created a computer program that was capable of writing spanking stories. The company claimed that the program was capable of producing stories that were just as good as those written by humans.

The members of the forum were outraged. They argued that writing spanking stories was an art form, and that it should not be left up to a computer program. They argued that the computer program could never understand the nuances of spanking stories, or the emotions behind them.

The members of the forum were so angry that they started a campaign to boycott the company and the computer program. They spread the word about the computer program and urged other authors to join their cause.

In the end, the boycott was successful and the company was forced to take down the computer program. The members of the forum were relieved that they had successfully defended their art form. They continued to share their spanking stories on the forum, secure in the knowledge that they were safe from the threat of computer-generated stories.

I asked ChatGPT the following question: Hello ChatGPT. What do you think of authors using an AI like you to write stories? Do you think it kill human creativity and can only end up with a sad homogenisation of the stories being written that way? Give your personal opinion and make it as long and as detailed as you can.

Here was his answer:

AI Writing and Creativity

Hello! As an AI language model, I don't have personal opinions or feelings. However, I can provide you with some information and thoughts on the use of AI in writing.

There is no denying that AI has the potential to revolutionize various fields, including creative writing. AI models like me can process and analyze large amounts of data and generate human-like text, which can be a useful tool for authors. For example, an AI model could help an author generate ideas for a story, create character profiles, or even write entire scenes or chapters.

However, it's important to note that AI is not a replacement for human creativity and artistic expression. While AI can assist in the writing process, it cannot replicate the unique perspective and emotions that an individual human author brings to their work. Ultimately, the quality of a story will depend on the skill and creativity of the author, regardless of whether or not they use AI tools.

There is also the risk of homogenization if AI is heavily relied upon in the writing process. Because AI models are based on existing data and patterns, they may not be able to generate truly original ideas or explore new, uncharted creative territory. As a result, stories written with the assistance of AI may tend to be more predictable and formulaic.

In conclusion, while AI can be a useful tool for authors, it should not be seen as a replacement for human creativity and artistic expression. The key to creating engaging, original stories is for authors to find the right balance between using AI as a tool and relying on their own creative skills and vision.

I think you were right Kdpierre, the perfect answer to this debate came from ChatGPT

Hi folks, please avoid posting actual stories on the forum, particularly any involving the spanking of minors.

I tend to agree with most of the others on this idea. I like the creative process, at any given time I'll have several stories in various stages of progress. I'll get a new idea for one of them and work on it, or I'll just have the urge to write more on one or another. I enjoy the process of thinking about what I'm going to write about, how I want to word it, how to present it. A few time I've come up with some novel ideas, or at least I've been told that I did. Sometimes it may be a new twist on a plot I've either done or seen done before. More than once I've gotten a comment that said, "I didn't see that coming." I get real satisfaction when I'm able to do that, which isn't often as I'm not all that creative.

I'm sure using AI would mean a story that is grammatically correct, with correct spelling, but I'm afraid it would be totally devoid of soul. For better or worse, everything I've written and submitted here is a piece of me, it's a mix of my experiences, and my imagination, or inspiration I've gotten from other mediums. One of my stories was inspired by an old Johnny Cash song, "Orphan of the Road." Some of them have been inspired by real life events where I let my imagination run free with what I would like to have done in that situation.

So, I'll stick to manually writing stories, and when you see grammatical errors, mistakes in spelling you'll know that it's one of my weaknesses, proofreading. You'll also know that it's all my work, it all came from my warped and twisted mind. It's me, at least a small piece of me, and that's how I want it to be.

Yes, I like planning what to write and I love having written it. It's just the part in between that I hate. Perhaps I should give this AI thing a serious try ...

I get you Alef, I can be the same way. But, when it's done, it's very satisfying.

I have no problem with ANY story being published ANYWHERE.........as long as it is properly credited. Should the LSF staff deem ChatGPT stories worthy of publication, it is their decision, but if so I would only hope that ChatGPT and ONLY ChatGPT gets the credit of authorship. I see no reason to rail against ChatGPT since I have no quarrel with a system that is just doing its job. I certainly would not want to offend an author's feelings.......even if those feelings are cybernetic. (Maybe I've watched too much "Black Mirror"? )

Thank you for taking the time to pose the question to ChatGPT and publishing its response. It was delightful.

Unfortunately such outcome is not restricted solely to AI authorship.
