I'm from the Netherlands but i don't know anything about a long corporal punishment history. Maybe in the middle ages it was like that and i could imagine that on the east Indian ships corporal punishment was used to keep order. But now in these days i believe corporal punishment is gone from schools and the like. Maybe it still exists but only in a very few circles. Today spanking is considered something erotic in the Netherlands.

I was sorely disappointed that the girl spanked was not the older one, after-all, she was in bed with the boy making out at night. Not having sound, I never did know why the younger girl got spanked. Glad they didn't show the boy get his! Beautifully filmed movie though! Thanks for the reference!

Back in the days when 'Discipline Domestique' was up and running they had a series of film clips of spankings in mainstream movies. There was a Dutch film on there, from the 70s I think, which had an OTK spanking to the tune of Hanchen Klein.

Also a Dutch friend of mine some years back told me of a contemporary Dutch mainstream novel set in an orphanage where the matron makes a regular practice of making the boys drop their pyjamas for a severe does of the slipper.

It is the domestic simplicity of Funbun's work that I love. Is Funbun definitely a guy I have never seen a reference to the real name?

He's definitely a guy, it would seem. Check out his drawing 'funbun-spanks-marie' in his gallery on the Anime OTK site, and the story that goes with it.

In 1976 a Dutch magazine called Panorama - a men's magazine on general sale, not a fetish mag - carried a full-colour picture on its cover of a middle-aged, balding man sitting on an upright chair, seen from the back. Across his knee is a very pretty long-haired girl, probably in her late teens and completely naked. He has his hand raised over her bottom.

On the cover, in full capitals: VADERDAG 1976: PAPA EN DOCHTER - IETS BIZONDERS ('Father's Day 1976: Papa and daughter - something special')

Yes indeed....

I apologise for reviving a fairly old thread, hope that's not a problem.

I am from the Netherlands and like Neliz87 I've never heard of a long corporal punishment tradition here. In fact my country was apparently one of the first to forbid corporal punishment in schools (in 1820).

It's interesting to hear the word 'spanking' derives from Friesian. I had no idea about that and Wiktionary doesn't give much information on the etymology of the word. I'd be interested to learn more about that. Friesian and Dutch are different languages though, although closely related, but some words can be quite different.

One of the things I actually find frustrating is there isn't a proper term for spanking in my language. It's referred to as (translated) receiving a bunch of smacks, a bunch for your pants, bottom-cookie/cake (especially when it involves children), or going over the knee.

I might not be the best person to ask, though. I've only found out about my interest in my late teens and met my now husband shortly after. We're keep our play to ourselves, aren't active in any sort of scene so I don't 'know' any other Dutch spankos

The very first spanking stories I read were in Dutch but because I was still in the process of coming to terms with my interest, I quickly went for English stories because they appealed more to me back then. I preferred stories set in times when spanking was considered 'normal'. English sixth form school girls getting the cane, naughty wives in Victorian or medieval times, etc. as opposed to modern day scenarios. English sources offered way more of that, many stories seemed to be better written, plus because there is a proper term for 'spanking' it was an easier search in Google ;)

I'm now at the point where I can't even write a spanking story in my own language. Many of my trigger words and phrases are in English. I do often throw my stories through Google translate though, just to read what it would look like in my own language. Absolutely crazy, I know!

To answer the last question "Have any of the Dutch members written stories on here?" Yes I have. I only recently started submitting stories here so they're very few, and could easily have taken place in any (Western) country. There's one where Amsterdam is mentioned and that's about as Dutch as it gets ;)
I have another one planned to be more clearly set in the Netherlands, but that one is still in the vague idea stage.

(Sorry for this text wall. I applaud those who read the whole thing)

Whatever works for you! Along with some other writers on here, I would never have guessed that English wasn't your first language.

I've noticed that Dutch and German people tend to be very fluent in English, after all the languages have common roots. But native English speakers tend to gravitate towards Spanish and French, as they're considered easier languages for us. I did speak some German even today, but that was to a woman working in the Polish shop who, it turns out, was Latvian.

In fact, not only Dutch and German but people from Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland for example tend to be fluent in three or four languages and think nothing of it. Probably the same further east. Brits think they're some kind of master polyglot if they can order a beer in any other country.

Hey I 'm a language expert: I can manage the following

English : Two beers please
French: Deux bieres s'il vous plait
German: Zwei Bier bitte (I thought the plural was Biere but it isn't)
Spanish: Dos cervezas por favor
Hungarian: Ket sor, koszonom szepen (lots of accents in this one)

Arabic: err ... err ... I'll just have a mint tea please

The same goes for German - the nearest they can do is 'hauen', which means 'to beat'. So it seems the English word 'spanking' has been adopted into the German language....
