When I look at different parts of some of the previous comments I get an interesting picture of what a kinky blog reader is after. It seems like some combination of: I want a free site that caters to my ideal of my particular interest. I don't want it to deviate from what I like while never becoming redundant. And I want them to go on forever.

As a blog host with a kinky blog, may I ask then: exactly WHY should a blog host live to entertain such a narrow expectation while getting no compensation? Maybe a pay site has an incentive to catering to their clientele, but if someone is doing all that work for free?

The facts are sadly simple. The more narrow the focus, the more likely it is that the blog becomes redundant. The less interactive the more likely a host will become bored doing it. When blogs ARE interactive, the typical pattern is the more insipid the topic, the better the chance of participation, but the more analytical or complex the issue, the less readers contribute. Also, when other topics are brought in to freshen things up, the results are hit-or-miss......and seem to annoy some readers.

So, maybe the biggest reason that blogs and sites close is that too many readers have expectations of participation that are self-defeating for keeping a forum fresh and enduring. Just a thought.

Spanking sites and Sports Fan sites are similar in many ways. There are pay sites that fans can join and there are free sites kept alive by fellow enthusiasts with an altruistic inclination. However neither may give the follower exactly what they want. Also both free and pay sites come and go.

The big difference between Spanking sites and Sports Fan sites is that the sport site feeds off the performances of an ever-changing club or league. For the Spanking site much of what can be published has already been published. The internet gave spanking a huge boom, but that boom has ended. Cybernetics and holograms may well create another spanking boom in the future, but at the moment we are left with a lot of repetition.

But then again there are always new viewers, people who has just discovered their kink. I think more or less the same material and discussions can be recirculated more or less forever. It is sad when a page with so much memories dies.

This is true Glagla, but it renders any Spanking site more of a data bank than an active blog. Spanking sites are not alone, many non-erotic specialist blogs and forums that were vibrant ten years ago have disappeared for similar reasons.

Looks as if Chross's blog has now totally imploded: we know that the updates stopped a couple of years ago, but the archived folders, movies, spanked celebrities etc. have also all now bitten the dust. So sad, one of the truly great sites for M/f fans like me.

I hate to see so many of the sites dying.

Speaking as a young spanking enthusiast (I just turned 18 last year, so now I can join sites like this!) I always feel depressed whenever I see these conversations. Sometimes I feel like I just missed a golden age... Like the kid from Almost Famous who only could see the end of rock and roll.

You might be luckier than you think Abaddon, as one door closes another opens. In the years before the internet many of us were very embarrassed over our love of spanking and hid the fact. We also lived off tidbits we found in magazines and movies. The internet brought spanking out of the closet, as spankos suddenly found easy access to others like them, pictures and videos, and realised we were not perverts.

As I have said in previous posts I think the we have run out of road, BUT with the rise in cybernetics a whole new REAL spanking world could open up. Imagine in a few years time life-like robots of Nannies, Teachers, Aunts and Uncles that are programmed to give REAL spankings.

You might be a strong six footer, but the robot nanny could be ten feet high and stronger and being put over its knee like a six year old would be easy and realistic. Ouch!

I agree with Brosse. Change is the nature of life. You'll have certain advantages and disadvantages by being 18 now, so just go with the hand you're dealt. But besides what Brosse wrote, I would emphatically add a bit of advice nicely summed up in a song from 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show': "Don't dream it.....be it."

Even if every site dies tomorrow, you live in a world where it will be far easier to indulge your kink for real. So like parents say to kids addicted to gaming, "get off the computer and go do something!" You're young, enjoy it!

Exactly KDP Well said.

I wonder how many of the millennials would actually swap it for growing up in the 1950/60s? Movies like Grease, American Graffiti and Help might be fun to watch but they don't show the rough side of life back then.

Speaking of which I see the cult film Melody is on Youtube now, which is a reasonable portrayal of Britain in the late 60s, though the story is a puppy love fantasy. It includes a school slippering also.
