Police search for teenage one-swatter

According to the local Cumbrian press, "Police are appealing for information after a young female was slapped on the bottom in Carlisle." Seems that one evening recently two young women were walking past the McVities biscuit factory when they were passed by four youths said to be between 12 and 14 years old, one on a bike. The bike-rider smacked one of the girls on her bottom and rode off. Now "Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to contact PC2251 on [phone number] 101 or call Crimestoppers."

Ok, I'm sure we all agree that bottom-smacking should be consensual and that women should be free from harassment in public (or indeed in private). Still, can't help feeling that in this case the response was - well, just a touch disproportionate....

And of course in a truly just world, the guilty party would be given more than a few smacks on his bottom to teach him a lesson, preferably on the bare, with the victim as a witness, but something tells me this commonsense solution will never be implemented even if they catch him. Probably an arrest and a court appearance and an examination by a psychiatrist to see what drove him to such a hostile, anti-social, misogynistic act and probation and a police record and...

Thank goodness we can all sleep safe in our beds tonight!

It just goes to show how distorted our justice system has become! Ridiculous!

Just because the youths hit the females backside, that is assault, can understand others saying polices reaction is disproportionate, but i ask what would your reaction be if someone were to hit a female who you were with on the buttocks?

Apologies if i have misjudged things re the situation, perhaps i am just choosy about who tenderises my tush, a youth smacking my 'pert' erogenous zone, would find me seeking him out, to kick him in one of his erogenous zones.

In about ten years I have little doubt this site will have a new member from Cuba. Or perhaps two new members if the lady liked the swat more than we know.

I was wondering how Cuba fitted into the picture until I realised that CS's spellchecker must have taken exception to 'Cumbria'. I suspect PC2251 is now inundated with crank calls and endless paperwork. He probably feels like giving the young lady a swat himself.

I agree that it is not OK to smack a bottom of a lady you don't know but to get the police involved is a bit over the top i think.

And if the police in the UK is the same as they are in the Netherlands they have more important things to do than finding a bottomsmacker. (like giving high traffic tickets for just a few KMH over the limit) but that is a bit off-topic i know.

Maybe if there was more bottom smacking the police would not have time to give out traffic tickets. So come on men (and ladies - let's not be sexist about this), you know what you have to do!
