OK, let me start by admitting that until today, I had never heard of pickleball or pickleball paddles. I ran across a reference to one on another spanking site, and did some research. PIckleball is somewhat like tennis, in that it is played on a court with a net in the middle, and women players often wear skirts similar to female tennis players. Men players wear shorts. The main differences are in the equipment. The ball appears to be lighter than a tennis ball, hollow with gaps in the surface, possibly made of plastic. The ball is hit with a paddle, shapsed somewhat like a ping pong paddle, only larger. With an overall length of around 15 inches, of which the handle is 5 to 5 and a half inches long, with the blade making up the rest of the length. The width of the blade is about 7 to 8 inches wide. They are made of different materials, with the inexpensive ones being made of wood. They look like they could be used to give an effective spanking. The sport is a new one, but is growing in popularity. It could be an ideal sport for closet spankos. "What's that?" "Oh. it's my pickleball paddle. I play 3 times a week. Great exercise."

I noticed that there's a website for the Bend Pickleball Club in Oregon. Doubtless they are ahead of us.

That's a new one. Never heard of pickleball . And that paddle does sound like a very fine spanking implement, well suited for bare or scantily covered bottoms, like pants worn under tennis dresses.
Speaking of scanty athletic attire and spanking possibilities, how about volleyball shorts? Very short and tight and of thin spandex, would offer little protection from a paddle. Can just see a coach with her team all lined up,waiting for their paddlings.

I had never heard of pickleball either, so I googled it and found a picture of a paddle. The caption beside it read: "Quiet power and control for everyone: solid power and control while decreasing the noise levels of typical high performance paddles." Are you sure this is a sport involving a ball? Why should the noise levels be important?

Bob, I found your comment really funny. You might want to go to a website called Pickleball Central. Click of paddles, click on wood paddles, and click on one called Rally Meister. There's a video for this one, with a woman called Anna holding up a paddle and describing its virtues. At one point she says, "And who is this paddle for? This paddle is for you! A little later she names organizations for which the paddle is made, starting with schools. One could easily fantasize about her as a strict but loving mom or teacher.

Like the others I have never heard of pickleball. As a ping pong bat is a favourite implement of mine, however, perhaps I should try to learn more. In terms of writing though , especially for one who hasn't progressed past typing with two fingers - one on each hand - I fear that 'pickleball paddle' is more of a challenge than pingpong bat!

Pickleball is a fairly recent sports development, intended, as I understand it, as a less strenuous, slower-paced form of tennis, primarily for older or less athletically inclined people. It's popular in retirement communities.

The balls are like "whiffle balls", i.e., plastic and perforated to slow down the speed and impact and the paddles are quite a bit larger that ping-pong paddles (or "bats"), presumably to increase the ability to contact the ball. By their appearance, they would seem to be ideal for paddling bottoms ("naughty", clothed or bare) but I doubt that was the original intent (wouldn't it be a hoot if the game was designed by a secret spanko!). The game can be played on tennis courts or on "half courts" (from a size point) so it can be played where tennis courts exist but are under-utilized for some reason. Reconfiguring the courts enable people to play pickleball but makes tennis no longer possible, so there's some conflict over that. One major complaint from non-fans is the distinctive "ping" sound made by the paddle contacting the ball, so there's some opposition from folks who live near the courts but tennis has its own distinctive sounds too. I guess it depends on your perspective.

Google "Pickleball" and check out some of the websites and the equipment suppliers. Some of the paddles look truly formidable and they're usually drilled with a number of holes (presumably to reduce air resistance) so they might well serve as a very effective punishment instrument. Enjoy!

OMG I didn't see any pickleball paddles with holes drilled in them. I've got to look for this.

I've never used one or had one used on me, but by the look of them, I tend to disagree with the opinions expressed thus far.......unless someone was a very large-bottomed novice with a near-virgin behind. They look too wide for variously-placed application...... again unless the bottom was enormous. None of the ones I saw had holes, so the ones without would definitely suffer from major wind resistance given their dimension. And overall they just seem too light.

I did see one reference to them on a site that was discussing 'everyday sports equipment as spanking implements' and the pickleball paddle did not receive any positive endorsements. It seems jokari paddles are favored.....but we don't use them either.

I did also notice, as mentioned before, that the game seems to be very popular for the elderly, so maybe a lighter wide paddle might be safer for use on grandma or grandpa's geriatric butts? But given the previous speculation on skimpy, butt-exposing uniforms for play and the likely age of the players, it seems like a game I wouldn't wish to watch.

I did my checking on pickleball some time ago, so I'm operating on memory here. I seem to recall at least some of the paddles I saw having holes in them. The site also dealt with other sports equipment too but I'm sure I saw at least some of the pickleball paddles with holes in them. Might be wrong though (or just wishful thinking). Kdpierre is right though, about the size of the paddles. They're rather large, perhaps too large for any "precision" application and they're probably pretty lightweight too. Given their size, they're probably impractical for punishment, although I can see young children being impressed by them if threatened by Granny or Grandpa, even if in jest. I think they're probably best suited for pickleball and not much else.

On another note, I saw a pic of a kind of miniature cricket bat made by an Australian sports manufacturer called Kookaburra that looked both the right size and shape (the flat side that is) for a real formidable paddle...
