The World Health Organization today released a report indicating that patient visits to private physicians, clinics, and other health care providers for complaints ultimately diagnosed as Repetitive Strain Injuries (often caused by repeated rapid movement) are clustered strongly on certain dates. The reason for this clustering is not clearly understood. What the researchers also found is that the Repetitive Strain Injuries to males in the study most commonly occurred in their wrists and those for females most commonly occurred in their index fingers. The reason for this disparate anatomic location is also unknown. As an example of the strong clustering by date, the researchers discovered that the daily incidence of diagnoses during the April 2015 through June 2015 period was ten times the normal daily rate on April 6, April 8, April 9, April 14, April 15, April 30, May 15, May 25, June 4, June 8, June 17, and June 29. Further work is underway to uncover the reasons for these findings.

We can all be part of this 'further work to uncover the reasons for these findings', health research can be such fun

The World Health Organization issued an update to its report at 5:00 pm and indicated that the clustering is most pronounced in English-speaking countries.

Why these particular dates? 'Tis truly a mystery! I think I read somewhere that the condition can take up to 24 hours to manifest itself. Maybe we need to look at events which occurred the previous day. No doubt the WHO will get to the bottom of it.

Bob, I read also that the condition takes up to 24 hours to manifest itself.

The World Health Organization has issued a further update: A large percentage of those diagnosed with Repetitive Strain Injury, upon physical examination, have poor eyesight and suspiciously some have nearly parallel stripes on their buttocks. When queried about this strange phenomenon, some said, "What stripes?" while the remainder said they have a habit of tumbling down basement steps.

The World Health Organization is looking into a number of competing theories regarding the source of what is rapidly becoming a pandemic. One theory it is investigating is the result of anonymous e-mails it has recently received.

For some reason I suspect this might have something to do with typing. However, most women I know type properly using all their fingers, whereas it is men who are more likely to just use a single finger, so this does not square up with the pattern of repetitive strain injuries reported by the WHO. 'Tis still a mystery.

Bob, I can not but read and re-read your post of 1 July. I think you were spot on. Below is a copy of the latest bulletin from the World Health Organization in which they provide a progress report and also solicit the public's assistance:

"Based on information it has received by anonymous e-mail, The World Health Organization (WHO) is now focusing on an on-line Library, the "Library of Spanking Fiction," as the possible source of the increased frequency and clustering on certain dates of visits to health care providers for symptoms that are ultimately diagnosed as Repetitive Strain Injuries. These e-mails suggest that the peak dates of patient visits for maladies subsequently diagnosed as Repetitive Strain Injuries may be closely linked to the release date of stories and other literary contributions made by the Library.

The WHO has assigned 10 of its top epidemiologists to this project who have logged onto the Library of Spanking Fiction website, acquired an account (for research purposes only) and found that the Library releases stories and other literary submissions for membership readership. After correlating data of peaks in patient visits to health care providers for complaints ultimately diagnosed as Repetitive Strain Injury with the release dates, our epidemiologists have determined that the peak in patient visits on each and every occasion lagged the release date by exactly one day. For example, a release date of stories on April 5 was followed by a ten fold increase in patient visits by men for wrist complaints and by women for index finger complaints on April 6. A release date of stories on April 7 was followed by a ten fold increase in patient visits on April 8. A release date on April 8 was followed by an increase in patient visits on April 9, and a release date on April 13 was followed by an increase in patient visits on April 14.

Ergonomic studies have conclusively demonstrated that the process of reading and scrolling through the stories could not have resulted in such a large increase in the number of health care visits in such a short period of time and some other phenomenon must be at work. We are looking into the matter further and are requesting the public's help (especially because correlation does not necessarily mean causation). Our researchers have noted that notice of this public health issue and the progress being made to uncover its cause are being reported in the Forum section of the Library of Spanking Fiction website. The World Health Organization is monitoring the Forum. If anyone has personal experience and can help us unravel this mystery, we would appreciate your help. If you have a "friend" who has experienced this problem and your "friend" has revealed to you the reason for his or her infirmity, you would be doing a public service if you would post to the website what your "friend" has told you. It is not necessary to provide your "friend's" name."

LOL! You should make this into a story, Cindy.
