Men shaving ?

I am mostly a sub male, although I like to switch. It seems a lot of sub males like to clean shave their bottoms and most of their front pubic hairs. I have to have a rectal exam in a couple of weeks to check my prostate. I have been mostly shaven, but wondered what my lady GP might think or react to it ? Any thoughts ?

Isn't something like that considered to be "privileged information," thereby protected by doctor-patient confidentiality?

I'm guessing that an experienced general practicioner would've dealt with individuals who shave their 'nether regions' before, so it wouldn't be that much of an issue to her anyway.

Unless you'd be embarrassed to have the lady know of your shaving habits, I don't see much reason to be concerned about it... --C.K.

Doubt she would give it a second thought. All people are different and do things for different reasons. I am sure you doctor has seen many strange things, and a 'shaved' bottom would not be something that would be a large surprise. Don't worry, no reason to be ashamed or worried.

I shave down there, and from what I can see in the locker rooms, lots of other men do too. So it's nothing unusual, and certainly doesn't "mean" anything. No worries!

Wow, you learn something new every day. Two things actually, "keep out of locker rooms" being the second!

I trim the pubic hairs, but I don't do the anal part. I use a urologist for those types of exams. You mention that 'you have to have the exam', so it might be a good idea to see a urologist. Of course the GP just might send you to one. Well, if there is any concerns that is. Shaving the anal area would actually keep anyone cleaner there, so for some people who do it, it would make sense.
