There is a restaurant in my town called 'The Thrasher'.Sadly, no matter how often I go there....

During my much younger, single days, I occasionally went with friends to a drinking-&-dancing establishment called "The Woodshed."

I sometimes envisioned asking a young lady to go on a date with me by saying, "I'd like to take you out to The Woodshed tonight," but a never tried it.

It was in a suburban area, so the CP-oriented reference would likely have been missed, anyway... --C.K.

There used to be an upmarket chain of pharmacies in Southern England called Savory and Moore.
In those more innocent times they had a sign with S&M displayed on each of their stores.
In the meetings I had with them at the time they referred to themselves as S&M without realising the alternative meaning, which was very little used in those days.
Regrettably this very pleasant and well-run small chain was taken over by a rapacious large multiple.

There was an outfit here in the U.S. that people used to always post pictures of called the S&M Clutch & Brake Co.

These off the cuff and more often than not, completely innocent remarks are delicious.
Growing up during the 60's and 70's I was subjected to countless comments, such as, "you're not to big to go over my knee you know," or " when was the last time you had your bottom smacked?".
Very often delivered by complete strangers.
For many years I enjoyed the veiled threats of spanking in movies and on the t.v. and to this day can spot a film listed in the paper and know that it has a spanking reference.
Even today, there is a cleaner where I work who, on more than one occasion, has said to me, "If you were my husband, I'd soon sort you out." Oooooooohhh

Wow some great stories here. I keep thinking back to that waitress bendover talked about. I just don't think I could hold it in if a waitress turned back to me and said "I need a good spanking"!

Did a bit of double take today, in the morning, when saw this short article on the NYT's Web site, "New York Today" section called "New York Today: Pick Up a Paddle". I think it is actually part of the blog and not in paper. Here is the link that may or may not work:

The whole thing doesn't, but this bit does:
