It's definitely Thai. I recognize the alphabet.

Collegeboy has right. The flag of Thailand is shown three times.

Of course it was Thailand. A beautiful video that shows respect for a devoted teacher or leader.

Yes it is lovely - a bit shocking though that they thought fit to include a caning sequence (on a girl!!) in what was obviously a world away from kink. From what I can gather Thailand like a lot of places is ambivalent and CP is often accepted by students and parents as long as it doesn't become excessive like this:

I didn't think the caning of the girl (presumably for smoking) was too severe in the "heartwarming" video. It seemed to be more symbolic than painful.

The Huffington footage was a very different matter although I am puzzled by the alleged bruising when only one stroke was meted out to the unfortunate pupils. Having said that, such canings were commonplace in English schools in the 1940's to 1960's, and usually involved far more than a single stroke.

Here's another video showing corporal punishment administered to females in a school in Thailand.

It's interesting that in neither the "heartwarming" video nor the real life footage are the recipients made to bend over and take up the position that is customary in western society.

Bogiephil1:
The music sounds vaguely Japanese and the people in the video could be. I don't recognize the flag that's shown but it's not Japanese, Chinese, North or South Korean, Vietnamese, Laotian, Cambodian or Taiwanese. Perhaps it's not a national flag...

I think it's the Thai flag. Repeat, THINK.

This video was produced in honor of the Thai teachers for Thai teachers day (Wan Khun Kruu) that is a big event every year for Thai students. Although caning has been banned since 2005 it is still happening with neither students or parents making a big fuss about as long as it is not excessive as in the Korat example. The video shows the traditional Thai punishment position of the student, standing up and arms crossed.
