Can life continue to exist in a universe bereft of Twinkies, Ding Dongs, and Wonder Bread?

Hostess, the maker of these products fondly remembered from my youth, claims to be folding it's business. Where will us folks in the USA find our empty calories?

As it turns out, I haven't eaten any of that stuff for decades now and I imagine I'm not alone. Perhaps that explains their imminent extinction?

I have heard of the food (???) they call Twinkies, but after reading the ingredients on the package, I often wondered what people did with them. You mean to say, some people actually ATE them...I thought they were for filling holes in the wall....LMAO

No that's what Wonder Bread is for. If you take a slice of that stuff and roll it up in your hand, it actually turns back into something like bread dough...or Bondo.

I had imagined Twinkies and Ding Dongs were children's and adult children's words for the pudenda, and Wonder Bread was something beloved of hippies. Was I wrong?

I was a big fan of Devil Dogs. I never really cared for Twinkies. To me they were all sweet and really no taste that I could actually recognize. Ding Dongs are good. Hostess being a brand name is more expensive than the store brand of basically the same things. Many a business has been capsized because of the competition.

I too preferred Devil Dogs. However, Devil Dogs are made by Drake (which has the good grammar to put an apostrophe "s" after their name, and before the words "Devil Dogs," while Hostess does not put an apostrophe (without the "s") before "Twinkies" - no wonder they are going out of business!). However, Drake was briefly sold to the company which owned Hostess in 1987, but that sale was soon overturned due to monopoly concerns. In 1997, Drake was again sold to a different company - which then also owned Hostess - and this sale was deemed OK. As far as I know, they are still separate companies, both subsidiaries of a parent company (though, in some regions in the US -I don't know about Canada - Devil Dogs and Twinkies are made in the same bakery/factory; who says we can't all get along?).

I'm not sure what any of this has to do with the LSF, unless devil dogs and Twinkies are code for some spanking related implement or position that I am not familiar with. I'm not even sure if what I wrote above is correct, since I got most of it from Wikipedia. What I DO know is that I am craving a Devil Dog right about now . . .

BTW, if you play "Devil Dog" backwards, you get "god lived." If you believe in such things, it is either a good thing - proof of the existence of god - OR a bad one, noting the past tense. In either case, I still want a Devil Dog.

I was about to post all this when I saw that , due to Hostess going under, Twinkies were being sold for $1000 each in some places. Talk about a fiscal cliff!

Yes, and if one leaves it in the original packaging, I am sure it will likely last for 100 years without going bad....LMAO

so it could be years, centuries even, before the universe is without twinkies.

And Wonder Bread is a product of the same corporation.

I'm still mourning the demise of Polly Waffles down here. Marshmallow in biscuit coating and covered with milk chocolate, what is not to like there?
