ordalie:
What should it have been?

Well, if you read it exactly as written, she would have to eat the judge (your honour) or she would die.

We all know it does not mean that, but it is rather funny.

It probably would have been clearer with a comma after "eat," and a comma after "honour."
Alternately, the author could have written something like "Your Honour, I have to eat, or I'll die."

But as CS indicated, we knew what the sentence meant, even without the added punctuation.

With such impeckable spelling as this, I think Blimp should be commissioned as chef LSF smell chequer!

I know what my stories should say, so when I re-read them I sometimes don't notice errors. I think that the important thing to remember is that we're all human and as such mistakes are inevitable. I think what I'm trying to say is that it's best for readers just relax a little.

I totally agree with you threader0987! BTW one way of helping to avoid incorrect (autopilot) proof-reading is to actually read the story aloud. This forces you to read what is actually on the page, I find. Also, reading aloud helps with punctuation too. It makes you more aware where you need to mark short pauses with commas, especially when the commas are necessary to make correct sense of the sentence and avoid double meanings, such as what TEM pointed out!

TheEnglishMaster:
A girl caught red-handed with vodka by the Head Prefect:
"Hello, Miranda," she said weekly.

It's always more fun when the typo makes alternative (and amusing) sense

We assume that the girl's punishment was to report to the Head Prefect every seven days, for a well deserved spanking.

If you find an error, click on the validation mark; it will bring up an error report

Sorry, I just realized you can't do that with challenge stories.

That's because they are not yet validated and are raw so to speak

It's a scandal!

How can I improve my English reading spanking stories if they are spelling mistakes in them?

I don't know why I keep reading them...

BTW thank to the authors of those 94 stories, I'm half way quoting them.

You will be happy to know that all the authors make spelling mistakes and other errors just so you can improve by spotting them. If everything was perfect in all the stories, your education in the English language may be sorely lacking, and no one on this site would want to take responsibility for that.

So as authors, we accept your thanks and will continue to make mistakes just to help many around the globe improve their language skills, it is the least we can do.
