The correct answer of course is to say whichever you prefer! My own experience is if you say red she will say whats wrong with the black one and vice versa. Best to have no opinions at all then you can't be wrong.

And if you say it doesn't matter, you will get it on the bare....

The use of language depends on if your writing in the third person, say as writing an article, or whether you're writing dialog. When people talk to one another they often don't speak in full sentences.

"You going to the party?'

"Yeah.'

"When?"

"About nine."

It would actually sound odd if you heard people conversing and always using complete sentences so "on the bare" is perfectly acceptable in that context.

Actually, I think I heard this phrase used by other kids when I was a kid. It certainly appeared very early on in spanko lit, in "letters" like the Mr. letters. So I believe it may in fact be an American idiomatic expression that has now found its way into our lexicon.

Translation: "On the bare."(a spanking on the bare bottom) would be a phrase having a special meaning not clear from the usual meaning of the words used in that phrase, and has become a specialized vocabulary for the spanko community.

As Rollin pointed out, "on the bare" has a special meaning in spanko lit; and I would vote to keep it. My favorite use of the phrase would be some thing like:

She found herself blinking at the floor, wondering how she got face down across his lap so fast with her skirt bunched up to her waist.

"OH! Please! Not on the bare!" she pleaded, as she felt her panties being pull down over her hips.

"Yes! On the bare." he said with a firm heavy SMACK to her up turned bare bottom.

I actually like the sound of 'On the bare' and there are other instances as was shown above where people omit certain words when they're not deemed necessary.

Linda:
A woman holds up two dresses and asks, "Should I wear the red or the black?"

Of course she should start our wearing black, then afterwards her bottom should be self-coloured red.

On the original topic, the phrase "on the bare" sounds a bit stilted and pretentious to me coming from the mouth of a spanker, but there again "on the bare bottom" (sigh) sounds gratuitously wordy, a fault to which I readily plead guilty, despite sharing the opinion that as these stories are written for erotic enoyment then there's more licence for a greater frequency of the payload words.

As "on the bare" is exclusively used in this context and we all understand it then it's fair enough to use it.

I love the phrase! It used to be enough, in my younger days, to bring me out in goose bumps! Certain phrases tweak the imagination. For example:

Six of the best
Bend over
Take your trousers down

I think the moment the bottom is bared is the "decisive moment" in a spanking!

Need you ask? It´s the little black number every time!

This reads like a plug for one of my stories but I assure you that there was no collusion.

"On the bare" actually sounds a bit old-fashioned and coy to me. It also recalls that schoolboy joke: "Would myou run away with a bear/bare behind?" Oh, no! Not on the bear!

I love the phrase!

I didn't say I didn't like the phrase, particularly if the spankee doesn't know up till that point that the spanking is to be on the bare bottom, and harbours hopes that they might get away without the humiliation or additional pain involved.
