Apparently, I have clicked on over 500 stories and only left one comment and am now am on double secret probation...meaning, allegedly, that I can only view 8 stories per day...but it every time I come back and try again it counts it as a story, even though I can't read it...so in actuality I can't look at anything. I did not know about this rule... There are lots of good stories here... I am just more of a lurker by nature in terms of this area of interest.. But I promise if I can ever actually read anything here again I will leave a comment now and again...

If I stay away for a few days, and can somehow get back on and comment on a story, will this just go away???

The way it works is a limit is set on the number of stories that can be viewed in a rolling 24 hour period. So it will clear if you wait a bit.

Also, if you want to comment on something you don't need to do so from within the actual story viewer. Comments can be left on any library item at any time by clicking the comment icon (see Help pages).

We do understand that some people prefer to lurk but with a minimum requirement to comment once every 500 views you can still pretty much lurk anyway.

Hey, I already promised I would!! I will be a semi-reformed lurker, I promise, scouts honor!

I did not know you could leave a comment without the story until I saw the note above, so I left one on a story I read last night about an hour ago... I am still locked out...but hopefully it will resolve itself by tomorrow... <<fingers crossed>>

Thank you all for your responses!

My comment has now logged, and I am back to being a "reader" instead of "limited" and can access stories! Wahoo! Thank you to everyone, especially Flopsybunny!

And Rick, the regular posters here seem very welcoming and nice. I will be sure to take advantage of that, in addition to providing story feedback, going forward.

Thanks again!

I am by nature more of a lurker, too. I don't like to make negative comments on stories that just didn't do it for me, so I wind up not reading F/M stories or stories without validation even if they are by writers I usually like, so I'm sure I have enough I do like to comment on. And I should have worked harder on that convoluted sentence. Gosh, I wish you guys would think of a different punishment for lurkers.

Fulgur:
Just hit the limit too... It's hard for me to comment as well. I'm not good with constructive criticism (reasons in my Wellred article ).

Why can't authoring a story count in lieu of a comment? Then I'd be ok :D

500 rule doesn't apply to authors.

Good for you, Tasha. Great stories here to be read. The authors DO deserve a comment to show you did enjoy them. Thanks for giving us another try.

I had heard of this rule but had seen no evidence of it and it confused me to be honest.

Now I realise that all along I had a powerful amulet to protect me from this fate. (128 powerful amulets in fact).

As an aside for occasional commenters only - did you know that comments on my stories count double?

Now I understand the importance of leaving comments. I am starting with this one.
