I know what I like to read and frequently say thank you. I can not write a story and would not even hazard a guess as to write someone constructive or other feedback. Based on the fact that I do not know the correct terms for how a story should be laid out I would not want to force my uninformed opinions on the authors. I like the fact that there are many writing styles here I think that it makes the stories more original. However I do understand your point of not a lot of comments being made considering the number of reads per day. Some people might not comment because they feel that making a comment could be tracked back to them on a personal basis and do not want that to happen.

Offering an opinion will never be considered forcing anything, and you don't need to worry about "correct terms." For example, if you said something as simple as "I loved the interaction between John and Mary, but to me that final spanking seemed a bit over-the-top," as an author I'd find the feedback very helpful, nor would I consider the last part even slightly judgmental, with nary a technical term to be found.

My own attempts at writing are pretty lame, but I enjoy the variety of styles the many writers here use.
What is great in a story is when we get a look inside the minds and emotions of both the spankers and spankees. I try to comment about what piqued my interest in the stories and an always happy to have a writer take the time to respond.
Unfortunately, there are some that don't bother.

When I first wrote stories and responded to people, my comment got deleted and I was told not to do that anymore. I don't know exactly what the policy is but there seems to be some discouragement when it comes to replying to replies.

@Patron: Sorry that happened to you. I was mainly thinking about PMs.

That happened to me too, way back when. I think the policy is that replies to comments (which are certainly not discouraged) must be via pop-up messages, leaving the comments section at the end of stories for readers only.

Think about it - someone who, having read a story and commented, will never see a reply made on the "comments" for that story, as he/she has no reason to return. Rules or no rules, you're better off sending a popup message, which you can do easily by clicking on the name of the commenter (your pop-up will have an automatic referral to the story, and the commenter will actual get the message.

I don't know what the details are. I just backed away from replying to replies at all. I only bring it up because someone mentioned that authors never reply back or some such. This is my reason. I'm following policy.

I'm not sending a personal pop up to everyone who replies. It's easier not to be bothered.

It's unfortunate you had that experience. Personally I dedicate a little time to check my comments at least every few days and send a brief response to everyone who commented. I figure if they took the time to express an opinion I can take a moment to acknowledge it. And they sometimes lead to sidebar conversations not always directly related to the story (I've just been nattering on about 'The Great Santini' because that's who someone compared a character of mine to).

I'm like mj, if someone took the time to read my story and leave a comment on it, then the least I can do is reply to them. I may have missed a few over the journey, and if I have I do apologise, but I endeavour to respond to all of my comments.
