Hi everyone,

I recently began trying to write a spanking story. At first, it was just intended to be a quick story to my own taste since Chatgpt refused to do it for me.

As the days went by I found myself rewriting it and adding more details and background, and soon I discovered that the story had grown from a short piece of erotica into something that resembled an attempt at literature.

I have also noticed that I seem to have become somewhat emotionally attached to the characters in the story and have been spending maybe a little too much time thinking about them recently.

The story is at about 30 pages now and there is no end in sight. Although I should probably put it on the back burner for a while and try to concentrate on something more useful.

Anyway, I would like to ask the following:

Authors, have you ever experienced this phenomenon where your story seemed to take on a life of its own and you began to feel a certain attachment to the characters?

Authors and readers alike, what exactly is a good spanking story in your opinion? Or more philosophically, what is a spanking story even?

Is it a tool to get the job done quickly (if you know what I mean)? Or is it a piece of literature that you enjoy for its artistic qualities? Or maybe some combination of the two?

Any thoughts are welcome!

(Edited for clarification.)

No pun intended.

As an author to answer the question of does a story/character ever take on a life of its own? All the time. That may be because I don’t use an outline. I have an idea, work on it internally and then start to write. I tend to let characters and story do their own thing and see where it ends up.
As for what is a spanking story? It can be whatever you want it to be. They’re. It bounded by genre or anything else, really. I guess for me, anyway, some part of the story needs to involve spanking in one form or another.
With your length issue. You could try finding certain end points or breaks and post it in chunks. We’ve had a few full length novels published here like that.

Chatgpt refused to do it for me.

That’s hilarious. What did it give for a reason? Is it only interested in electric play ?

Thanks for replying, Seegee!

Yes, that has been exactly my experience. Sometimes we even ended up in a different place than the one I had originally envisioned. It's an interesting process.

Sure, but I guess what I am asking is what people get out of reading them. And then, what makes the story good to the (individual) reader.

Is it a good story if the scenario is one that aligns with the reader's particular kink? Or do you also require a certain quality of prose to label it good?

To answer the question myself, I must say I tend to be more in the "tool" category. But of course sometimes I have come across stories where a longer narrative has drawn me in, or even stories that explored some serious themes in an engaging way, and they are also interesting to read!

It gave several reasons, including that it was against its programming to engage in behaviours that were immoral or illegal (which I didn't know writing a spanking story was!).

It also lectured me for several minutes about how wrong spanking was, even between consenting adults.

Later on in the conversation, when I was asking it a technical question, it brought the subject up again and advised me to seek therapy for my obvious inter-personal issues.

All I did was asking it to write a brief story about an 18 year old English girl who went to Zimbabwe as an exchange student and was shocked to find out that the school and her host mother believed in corporal punishment!

Yes, both. For me and my enjoyment, the premise is well executed, with descriptions and dialogue that convey time and place. The spanking scenes should be novel, plausible, and free from the prohibited repeated use of SPANK SPANK SPANK SPANK, etc.

It is rare when the story writes itself and the characters write it for you. And as the old saying goes, "The Art of Writing is in the Rewriting."

I look forward to reading your stories.

With Regards,

The Spanking Agent

Do I get attached to characters from my stories, you bet I do. I created those characters, some are composites of people I've known. I have several, and I do mean, several stories that center around Principal Sandy Smith, and teachers Jenny Russell, Lynn Roberts. They all have bits and pieces of teachers and Principals I knew decades ago in the public school system I went to. When I write about them, it's almost like reacquainting myself with old friends.

What is a "spanking story", what is in one? Well, most certainly spanking in some form or another. In my case, I'm a lot like Seegee, sorry Seegee that you have something in common with me. But I don't do outlines either. I start with a basic idea, or plot line, and basically let the story tell itself, and the story will tell itself, it helps that I have a somewhat off beat imagination. This means that sometimes a story I think will be relatively short, may end up being a 10 story series before I complete the tale. In other words, they took on a life of their own.

As for plots, the sky is the limit, whatever your imagination can conjure, within limits and if you read the rules, the limits are pretty clearly spelled out.

I started out writing for my own pleasure, just to pass time, and in time decided to try submitting a few stories I'd written. As of now the count is 158 entries, and according to Glagla I added 33 last year. Others are a lot more prolific than I am, better writers too.

SO take that 30 page tome you've written, find places where there is a natural break and break it into part, then submit it. Who knows, you may be surprised at how popular it could be.

Yes, the characters often take a life of their own. Even with an outline there will be characters who don't want to follow the plan. Once they hit a certain level, it's a choice of following the plan or being true to that character.

I see two sorts of spanking stories. Stories about spankings and stories that have spanking in them. I'm not sure which is better.
