I'm not that tickled by the idea. (I'm not seeking to bully or brow beat, but just voicing questioning concerns)
First scenario: first time spankee will be rather uncomfortable to speak at all, let alone about trivial topics.
Second scenario: what is the purpose of speaking to someone in an equal level, while they are in a submissive posture. Granted, some are that comfortable with themselves to be in a submissive pose, yet discuss shopping lists, and other mundane sundry topics. I just don't understand why a top would do that, instead of standing them up to have spanking unrelated discourse.
As a top, I'm at a loss as to why I would start having a banal discussion during or immediately after. I admit a discussion during a "therapeutic" spanking might make some sense, but discussing trivialities would distract the spankee which would make a therapeutic spanking useless, no?
You already said it isn't a scolding spanking, so recriminations wouldn't be part of those discussions.
Alternatively, if the spankee started to have a discussion with her top during a spanking, and if I was the top, I'd feel equally distracted. The last thing a spankee would want is to have her top's mind to be somewhere on the horizon, during her spanking, disciplinary or just because.
There again, I used to know one spankee who rather enjoyed tying together your shoe laces while she was bent over your knee. naturally, you didn't notice it until you were supposedly done with the spanking, Go to walk, trip and suddenly find a new reason for further hand to ass discussions.
There again, I have gone into lecture mode while (not lecturing why the spanking is being done, but lecturing (typically to a noobie) on what to do, or not do, what to expect, or not expect during a spanking.
