Do spanked husband stories get it right?

I have always been a switch since childhood, and I have been spanked by my wife many times. What puzzles me though is that most of the stories I have read about "spanked husbands" do not resemble my situation, yet the stories of successful women in the workplace wanting a spanking do. The excellent tale of Josephine Morrow in "The Domino Tattoo" being a good example.

Many of the stories of husbands getting spanked are based on them having some really bad habits or being tardy at home, and that is not me. I have always been proactive and responsible at work and home, and I am the one who has the final say on the important decisions in our relationship and not my wife. I have always been the alpha partner and that is the way my wife likes it.

My need to be spanked has, since childhood, been based on a temporary abdication of responsibility where I have no control over what transpires. Escapism.

Has anyone got any thoughts on this?

I don't know.
It's possibly just a bit too tricky to write that theme into a story and make it interesting to the reader. Perhaps there are not that many spanked alpha partners in the authorship here, and the imagining of it is a bit alien. far easier to imagine the mind of a submissive, there is perhaps more to say?

I think you are correct "opb", it is easier to go straight into the FLR genre rather than deal with the more complex issues of an alpha male who enjoys temporarily letting go and being the naughty child for an hour or two.

Interesting that years ago being punished by a professional Dominatrix was regarded as being the domain of High Court Judges, Captains of Industry and Cabinet Ministers, all of whom held powerful and responsible positions. It was often put down to them being Old Etonians, but I am not sure that is actually the reason.

Regarded by the tabloid press perhaps, via high-profile cases like Cynthia Payne, but I suspect pro-dommes have always catered to just as many ordinary mortals for their living.

I would agree, though, about the underlying cause of the need to be punished. Although ex-public-school boys of a certain era will have had ample cause to eroticise CP, so will anyone subjected to CP at school (I've come across more ex-grammar school boys here who fit that bill than otherwise). As you suggest, however, the greater the responsibility and the stress that comes with it, the greater the need to experience its opposite extreme as relief. I assume that playing a baby (I forget the right term for that) provides a similar experience. You mentioned escapism, but perhaps helplessness is closer to the mark?

Thanks for posting about your own experience. I, too, am a long-time switch, and the attraction of the 'naughty-husband' genre escapes me. But the more I read here, of fiction as well as posts like yours, the more I believe that we're all unique in our particular kink - drawn together (thankfully) by many common urges and themes, but ultimately the product of our individual mix of genes and experience.

Just a short comment: I find this discussion quite interesting as there seem to be lots of stories about alpha females with an inner need of an occasional spanking (no, I am not counting the stories where the alpha female has a snubbed partner with an inner need to spank her!). There may be a gender issue here.

Alef, I think the issue is the same for me as an alpha male as it is for an alpha female, "a change is as good as a rest".

I am not sure how many subs like to occasionally dominate, but there are plenty of dominants in ordinary life who like to be spanked occasionally to escape the stresses of leadership.

I am sure it's the same in reality; my point was just that this doesn't seem to be reflected in the stories.
