Requests?

Forgive me if this has been floated before, but...maybe I can best explain it with an analogy.

I'm a pianist. I play solo gigs often where I play jazz standards and stuff from the American songbook, etc. When left to my own devices it can be hard to decide what to play, and rarely do I compose my own material. But when I get a request, say, "Our Love is Here to Stay", I can launch straight into that tune and put my own creative spin on it and by the end I'm very happy with what I've been able to do putting my own stamp on it.

I feel that way about my spanking writing sometimes. I have a small collection of stories which I'm pretty happy with but I've been striking out at writing anything else recently. Do writers at LSF historically 'take requests'? If so, are there any? I don't intend to cater to every detail and of course the end result will be a mishmash if the request suggestion and my own machinations, but I can't help but think it might get me started...

I think that there are several authors here that would see it as an interesting challenge. Expect however that the result will divert from your idea. Every writer tends to bend the plot according to their prefences and ability to phrase the story. There are however plenty of stories here that have been written jointly by two authors, so you could of course send it back and forth between you until you're satisfied with the result.

Oh, it's the opposite! I want to write—- I was hoping non authors would give me requests for a scenario they've always wanted to see, and I would set about writing it. I feel as though it'd get me out of my comfort zone as a writer and also make me a little beholden to someone else which will motivate me.

That sounds splendid, like a ghost writer. I'm certain that there are thousands of ideas out there that are just dying to get down on print.

Here's one that has had many variations of it already written, but it's still a great idea.

A young actress (or actor, if you prefer /m to /f - I'll keep calling the person an actress) signs on a movie (or TV pilot) that will be Her Big Break. The director (male, female, your choice) believes in realism, hates using blue screen, and wants every effect to be as real as possible. He has stunt men rather than CGI. Maybe he's a relic of pre-CGI days or maybe he's an up and comer who wants a retro look - both work. Or maybe iut's just a budget issue - they have to go with realism because they can't afford CGI.

After the actress signs on she sees a spanking in the script - or maybe a rewrite adds a spanking. If this is a pilot the spanking could be a reoccurring thing that happens each episode, if a movie her bare bottom will be shown on screen to prove it's not fake. She has to decide if the role is worth getting spanked for real, knowing that if she turns her back on this role she might never work again. The spanking happens, and maybe she hates it or maybe she finds it erotic. Either way she had been spanked on camera.

Maybe she becomes famous from that spanking scene, or maybe it gets left on the cutting room floor.


I've used that idea more than once, so have other people here, but it's still a great plot that anyone can use and make their own.

You should see if you can find any past interviews with Maggie Gyllenhaal about her scenes in Secretary. Her accounts deal precisely with this issue.

Also, Avalon, are you[i]asking[i] for ideas, or just asking if asking is a standard procedure?

I guess I'm asking for ideas— but not because I don't have any of my own—rather that I'd like to break out of my traditional desires and also maybe write something up for someone who doesn't have the time or feel they have to ability to write themselves. I think it can be a win win situation.

Btw, anyone reading this thread can feel free to message me if there is an idea they would like pursued.

Here's one based on something I've been going through with my wife and a good friend, but for some reason I just don't have the desire to write about it....at least fictionally: A FLR couple has a female friend who learns of their domestic discipline lifestyle and is intrigued by it. The couple decides to grant this friend certain limited disciplinary authority. The friend accepts and goes through a period of adjustment as she discovers that the authority she has been given, while seemingly playful, is actually pretty real. She then tries to adjust her thinking to the transition from 'friend' to 'authority figure'.

I think the mental process of such a transition is very powerful. I am watching it unfold and am intrigued by how we as humans are capable of adapting to the strangest of circumstances. It's sort of like the Stanford Prison Experiment. Going from friends who were equals to still friends...but with one able to look at a situation and behavior and with just a wave of their finger, get their 'friend' to accept a genuine, unpleasant spanking without complaint or resentment.

Anyway, if it appeals to you, have at it.

This sounds quite a bit like your story "The Friend," which does detail some of the thought processes of a man who has agreed accept a close female friend as his personal disciplinarian (including being his 'keyholder').

I'm presuming that you're thinking of an account which explores the gradual but fairly consistent alteration in that type of once-equal relationship, until it's been transformed into a situation wherein one of them can simply say, "Get ready for punishment," and the other one will immediately reply, "Yes, ma'am" (or "Yes, sir").

The issue of how truly equitable the non-disciplinary parts of a relationship (marital/romantic, family or friendly) can be, when there is also a one-way punitive aspect involved, that's something I've cogitated a touch on myself...
