It's complicated, as they say these days. I enjoy stories with or without sex as long as they are interesting and well written, but my basic instinct is to keep spanking and sex separate. Still about half my stories contain (short!) sex scenes, but they usually depict make-up sex after the spanking. I guess the point is that many of my stories are semi-consensual, and the sex is mainly there to show that the spankee has accepted the spanking (and even been turned on by it).

TheEnglishMaster:
Both, though I keep the sex to a minimum in my own stories because it's so hard to describe without sounding like an idiot. Of course, that could just be me...

Can't say I have noticed!

To me it depends completely on the story. Sometimes it fits like a glove, sometimes it completely ruins a plot. My modern stories are most often free from sex because it would fill no purpose in the plot. There are a few exceptions though, when it's a measure or a goal for the characters to get things to the point where they want to go. My fantasy stories are often riddled with brutish sexual situations, because it sort of goes with the setting. I mean, put a voluptuous, half-naked witch in the same room as an over-sized, ridiculously well-hung, horny demon and something has to happen, right? Of course, having sex only after having spanked her properly. I find similar in other people's stories. Stuff from out of this world tends to be more erotic and it works.

For me, it depends on the story. The stories that I write, in a few cases have teen sex mentioned, but, not as the main plot, it's teens doing what teens will do. As far as consentual, adult sex, if it seems the story is calling for it, and it doesn't seem to get in the way of the plot and is a natural occurrence, I've been known to put in sex scenes, but they are sex scenes without getting too graphic, it's sex that is a natural occurrence of the relationship.

As a reader i take the view that nothing should be off the literary table if it fits and or adds to the story.

I respect a authors imagination and literary skill, and if they deal with sex or anything else in their story then that was their intention, nothing in my opinion should hinder/thwart authors expression.

Library of spanking fiction has stories that covers all tastes, it caters for all, (within site rules), if sex your thing then its here, and if sex in fiction is not your thing then that is well catered for also.

I for one like stories both ways but I prefer sex in the story and I prefer it to be as graphic as the spanking itself.

I enjoy sex in stories, if it advances the feeling of romance between two souls. However, I prefer school and discipline stories to remain pure to their main theme.

Eh, I get a weird psychological catharsis from reading and writing corporal punishment of children by loving if strict parents - any sex in that gets super squicky incredibly fast. And one of my personal kinks is fantasies about DD/spanking in the context of a romantic relationship, so in those, it's often related or adjacent. Different interests, different tastes. I don't read space opera and literary classics to push the same buttons, either.

I'm one of those 'story first spanking only if required' readers. I quite like reading sex scenes in the stories here, but will avoid writing them for exactly the same reason as TEM. I wouldn't do a good job of them anyway.

Sex scenes are incredibly difficult to write effectively and even decent writers can get mocked for writing bad sex scenes; I'm of the opinion that more is often less. There again, a lot of spanking scenes rely on overuse of various terms for "bottom". Not that easy, is it?
