more descriptions about buttock's size and shape in the stories

It may be relevant to mention that the Irish song known as "The Londonderry air" caused some problems in Victorian England as the title could be misheard as "The London derriere"!

It is interesting the baggage we attach to words. As an American I hate even reading the word: 'arse'. I realize it is the common UK term, but for some reason, to me it conjures up images of a bottom that hasn't been apportioned its fair share of hygienic attention. Don't ask me why. Unless it's that my initial exposure to the word was through movies where it was being tossed about by grimy old codgers with Irish or Cockney accents. Weird huh?

That's funny kdpierre everytime I hear arse it is spoken in an English accent in my head and it sounds fancy. Us Americans are funny like that I guess.

I remember hearing that Eliza Doolittle's exhortation in the film version of My Fair Lady to a horse to 'move it's bloomin' arse!' caused quite a stir at the time of it's release. Two terms I like that are very rarely used, but fairly descriptive all the same are: situpon and sitmedown.

I agree with Seegee absolutely, Bottom is good, buttocks no problem, but arse or ass is a right turn off!
Also i like it when the term 'naughty bottom' or 'naughty little bottom' is used, which is of course a bit daft as a bottom cannot be naughty, it is the person who is naughty. Perhaps it is because bottom seems a gentler term for spanking, whereas Arse is a rough term more appropriate for beating....and I am a spanker not a beater.
I am begining to wonder if I should have started this post!!...seem to be waffling a bit!

And then there is "tush" ,"sitzplaz"- not sure of spelling of that one. tail- which I don't like- animals have tails not people.
"Cushion" or "seat cushion"- kind of like that one, evokes image of a well- spanked brat sitting on one!

I'm pretty sure I have used the term buttocks in my Mr. letters type stories. In fact I think the term buttocks appears in all of them. I have used bottom as well. I agree Chandra, I like the term buttocks as well.

I also agree with the above regarding translation from one language to another, especially regarding a "specialized" subject such as this. Dicyverges would need to find a like minded Italian who understands what he is writing who, of course, also knows English to do a proper translation of his stories.

I'm surprised that the bum hasn't been mentioned.
I know that in the USA it has a totally different meaning, cf fanny, but in the UK it is used as common slang.
It's used mainly as a pleasant term; eg Look at the arse on her,-course and crude; She's got a gorgeous bum,- fairly affectionate and not particularly rude.
The famous "damned if you do and damned if you don't" phrase from woman to partner-"Does my bum look big in this? , you can't get it right.
Most men I know like a slightly bigger than fashionable bum, but women are very sensitive.
In a UK setting "I'm going to give that pretty little bum a good spanking would be a sexy, intimate bedroom comment."
"I'm going to spank your bottom would be formal and used in a punishment context."
"Buttocks" can be used descriptively, but never informally or in conversation.
It just goes to show "Two countries divided by a common language."
Incidentally, does the usage of the word 'suspenders' ever cause confusion or amusement in the USA when it is used to describe sexy looking women's underwear. I had to look up the meaning of panty hose when I first saw it used.

Concerning bum, H.L. Mencken in The American Language pointed out that because bum means the buttocks,it may be considered obscene in England, but in the US means a tramp or hobo.
And then there is the knickers/ panties usage dividing the two countries' English, think there is an older thread here about that.
Did not know about suspenders meaning sexy underwear, would presume it meant garter belt/stockings/sexy panties sort of things. Did know that pantyhose called tights in Britain. Here tights can mean anything from spandex exercise pants to a type of undergarment to what is worn by wrestlers.

There is also the different connotation regarding the word fanny. Here in the US it is a synonym for buttocks whereas in England it is slang for vagina (I think)
