Does a baking recipe make a story a spanking story ?

I hear you say: "Has Moody now gone totally nuts?"
and I say: "Not at all. While translating a recipe into English for a story, I had to wonder.
'Beat egg and sugar until fluffy', then we add butter and 'beat the dough until fluffy' some more.

Actually you don't use a cane but a mixer."

It seems baking is quite a brutal affair. I now wonder if some people look at a collection of baking recipes as the new best seller '50 shades of baking powder'.

Not to mention when you serve the strawberry tart. Lots of whipped cream.

Perhaps, when cooking you were in your brand spanking new kitchen. Did you need to clean the paddles on your mixing machine? That recipe, did it come from their "six of the best" collection? I hope you used cane sugar. Etc.

Just got the first batch of cookies from the oven.
Taste... edible, check.
Yeah I used brown sugar. I normally use brown sugar for baking. Brown sugar is considered sweeter than white sugar from sugar beets. Normally brown sugar is from sugar canes.
This time I should have kept to the recipe and only used half the baking powder, but I hate half full/empty packages.
The cookies are far too fluffy or was I too generous when beating (up) the dough.
Maybe I should have kept to the story and forgone the recipe to allow everyone to role play the story.

I must admit I once wrote a story called "Sachertorte" about what happens when you mix whipped cream with whipped bottoms. It only exists in Norwegian, though ...

I remember a joke from childhood: why are cooks cruel? Because they whip the cream, beat the eggs and batter the fish.

Sounds fun. Time for a translation perhaps?

Sweet joke!

Spanking and cooking's semantic fields do have some entertaining overlaps. I wrote a story called "Flambe'd Cheeks" which mainly consists of a recipe. It's under "Other" on my author page if you fancy a quick 'amuse bouche' as they say...

I’ve got one called Cooking with Kids where the spanking is administered as if the person giving it is hosting a TV cooking show.

The term "warm up" comes to mind.

I'll just take this opportunity to plug my story, Bad Pie Recipe.
