Fifty Shades Redux

It seems that the 50-Shades filmmakers are trying to squeeze a few last dollars from this frayed franchise.

You know what's wrong with the fifty shades movies?? I bet almost *everyone* around here knows what's wrong. What's wrong is this:
1. That girl ain't no bottom.
2. That guy ain't no top.
Hollywood chickened out. Again. They couldn't cast people who would actually enjoy the role they had, it would have been too edgy. Damn them, they always do this.

Beyond that:
3. There ain't no plot.

I was taking that as read.

40 million dollars to make the film
It made over 570 million dollars gross.

To us it was a 'wrong un' but to the makers it was right right right.

Merely from a financial perspective, i am sure the accountants are going to be saying do not change anything, if it is not broken don't try to mend it.

Think of the number of unspanked subscribers bottoms, that had to be sat upon while watching the film, to make that much profit.

"The last few dollars" remains to be seen. If this one makes any real money (even if it's "direct to video"), there's an excellent chance there'll be a "50 Shades 3" even if Dakota Johnson isn't interested any more. If there's one thing Hollywood is known for, it's squeezing blood out of a rock, as long as there's blood to be squeezed...

I don't think it's a movie for serious spankers, but could hopefully serve as an introduction for the potential audience. I remember how utterly disappointed I was when 9 1/2 weeks were out. Nothing rally went down and then the movie was over. Well, since this one made a shitload of money we're bound to see several more of the same.

And, of course,

4. Its based on a piece of shit book by a nearly illiterate author who seems to have never set foot outside her house.

Read this earlier. Thought it was a very good article.

I haven't read the book and I'm not tempted to after the bad press it received on this site but I enjoyed the film. I'm looking forward to the next one.
