I have a blog (hardly anything gets posted there that I don't post here...so no need to come looking for it !! It just serves another audience).

One of the stats the blog software provides is a list of search term by people which resulted in their visit.
Sometimes I find them quite...inspirational.

Here was today's gem...

whalebone switch spanked plump rump

What an image that conjures up !

Do you have any idea which of your stories could have led to your blog? I know that in the library there was a fish used as an implement, but a whalebone? Sounds interesting.

I have no idea. I had assumed the whalebone the searcher had in mind was the whalebone stays used in corsets.

But...a search on google came up with a cane made from whalebone :
"Canes are made from a variety of materials, with rattan being the most popular, due to its unique combination of light weight and extreme flexibility. They can also be made from malacca and bamboo-both unsuitable materials in my opinion, since malacca is too "knobbly" and bamboo is liable to splinter-and also from whalebone, a very severe form indeed of this instrument. And of course, ad hoc punishment ferrules can be shaped very easily from switches cut from any hedgerow-hazel, willow and young ash-plants all being suitable, though only the last-named will last for more than one punishment. http://www.seekers.org.uk/canes.html"

and a switch:

I've heard of a Japanese birch-like implement made of a number of thin whalebone strips (can't remember its name) and an Irish 'blackjack' - a tawse-shaped device with whalebone strips between two layers of leather (may be related to, or the same as, the 'pandybat' mentioned further up this thread. I wonder whether 'whaling' (as in "I'm going to give your backside a good whaling") has any connection?

Sounds like they're google-whacking.

I did use a whalebone busk ( the breastbone bit in a corset) in one of my stories here, but the characters didn't actually use it for spanking at that point, it just got them in the mood for some play later.
