"Thus I Refute Beelzy" by John Collier should be familiar to all in this group. It's a fine short story in its own right, but I have seen no one note the obvious spanko references in it, all typical language for those who savor talk of being "warmed" or "blushing" in part of their anatomy, and his last threat "I'll have your breeches down!"is delicious, for some of us. If you don't know this story, or John Collier's work, seek it out for your own pleasure, and read his other short stories, too - much like "Saki" (H.H.Munro), he specializes in quirky stories with unusual endings. But the language of this particular story suggests a closeted spanko letting his freak flag fly. |
