This is a hard question to answer, as I look for so many different things in spanking stories, but usually x/f spanking, with some degree of humiliation involved in the spanking, unfair spankings, or spankings because of mistaken identity is a good thing, and an absurd spanking situation usually helps. I guess I am not looking for reality in my stories, but an escape from reality.

I prefer F/m stories. The boy being spanked should be bare bottomed. I like the OTK position, and prefer only one implement be used in a spanking. the paddle is my favorite implement. (To read about, not o receive.) The spanker should be a Mom, a teacher, a babysitter, or a neighbor.

What he said... I do like the hand and hairbrush too, though. And perhaps a girl getting it too, or at least watching him get it.

The stories I "look for" most are x/f stories which involve some kind of caring discipline.

There's a feature of these kinds of stories that I especially look for. Namely, when a spankee accepts and acquieses to her punishment, while simultaneously scared of the prospect of a spanking. Perhaps she must herself make the final decision about whether she will be spanked, or perhaps she requests her own punishment out of a sense of honor. I find the delicate balance between acceptance and reluctance fascinating, and endearing. (Some of my favorite examples of this are ChardT's "The Talk", and Guy Spencer's "Spanked!", as well as Susan Thomas's "When in Rome".)

An interesting variant on this idea is where the punishment is not really deserved, but the spankee makes the choice to accept it for the sake of a greater good. (For instance, Susan Thomas's "False Identity".)

I should say that I appreciate many more kinds of stories than these. There are so many entertaining and arousing stories here, even if they aren't precisely lined up to press my particular buttons.

I am with you Jenny. Teen girls spanked over the maternal knee. Maybe even an aunt. Not so much mouth soapings, corner time or early bedtimes. That is all window dressing in my humble opinion. The spanking is the main event. Regards.

I prefer F/M (as you might guess from my writings), but enjoy all of the other combinations if well written. A near exception to this is the spanking of children of either gender, but I say "near" because in a really loving environment even they can be appreciated.

Agree completely, but would add that escape from reality--suspension of disbelief--requires that the author write well enough to build a convincing, internally consistent story world. This does not necessarily require a lot of detail. A masterpiece can be painted with a single stroke of the brush (though not be me).

It seems to me the questions about tastes and taboos are different from those about characterisation and vivid description. If someone had a thing about sex with fruitbats, there could be predictable stories about sex with fruitbats and stories with a twist in the tail.

I too like a twist at the end. I like subtle characterisation. I like the nature of the people to be discovered as far as possible by demonstration (what they say and do) rather than by me being told what to think of them. I like stories to be credible within the worlds they've created - so a factual mistake about France in 1940, say, in a story set in France in 1940, detracts from the story and characters should act in credible ways. But in a wild fantasy, what counts is the rules of the fantasy world the author has created.

I prefer stories not to be very obvious and that includes the title: I'm attracted by a hint of mystery and not by a setting out in the title of what is going to happen almost as in a sales catalogue.

Last year I dreamed I saw two fruit bats flying around outside my window. I went out to get a closer look, and they fluttered to the ground and turned into a pair of beautiful women. They seemed to be into me...but I couldn't make any progress with them, because they only spoke Arabic.

I can only say that once I click on a story, I just know one that hits my buttons and occasionally I see one that hits me like a ton of bricks. Then, I make sure to favorite it. I have no idea whether the author knows that I fave it but I would like for him/her to know I did just that. I sometimes mention that in the comment area but not always. So what am I looking for in a story? Really exceptional storytelling that I can not only relate to but also feel into the situation as though I were there. Yes, and especially if the tale hits my tastes to the core.

Still, there are stories that are truly worth reading even it they aren't right down my alley. Sometimes really good writing keeps me fully absorbed simply because it is just plain well done. I like to let those writers know that I appreciate their qualitative effort if they have touched me regardless of the venue. So, summing up, I am looking for stories that put my mindset into them. I just wish I could tell tales like you all are able to so I could pay you all back. I appreciate all your efforts ...

I prefer F/F and F/M, but I'm looking for a well written story with decent characterisation. I also like some variance with some element of the story that sets it apart from the pack.

When I started reading spanking stories on internet about 20 years ago my interest was very much concentrated towards the spanking itself. Soon that became boring. Since have wanted a good story line and description of the characters such that I'm creating images in my brain. The thoughts and feeling of the characters are most welcome too and the story should be believable.

My preferences are clearly on M/F stories with hand spanking or at least mild instruments.
