Well, my northern neighbor, there was actually another point beyond the obvious one I was making, that merely reversing names and pronouns might not work effectively in altering an M/F spanking account into an F/M entry to the current Challenge.

I find this a quite interesting question and have tried to read the challenge entries with it in the back of my mind. There are (rather obviously) no entries that would work as M/F-stories with just a change of clothes, names, and pronouns, but there are some with a basic idea that could just as well have been turned into an M/F-story with basically the same impact. There are also a few that might not work as M/F-stories, but that could perhaps have been turned into F/F-stories. The rest seems to be intrinsic M/F-stories that cannot easily be turned into something else.

There seem to be several reasons why F/M-stories are inherently different from M/F-stories, most of them having to do with the ways we perceive men and women. Here are a few:

1. The idea of a man (often big and strong) being dominated by a woman (often petite) seems to be erotically charged in itself - to the degree that some of the stories seem to have this situation as its only point of departure.

2. Dominatrix-stories play on female sexuality in a way that a story with a male Dom cannot replicate.

3. A number of stories in the challenge have plots where a group of women gang up on a man to give him a good spanking (often his wife and her best friends). It's possible to imagine a role reversal where a group of men gang up on a woman, but it would have to be written with great care to avoid an unpleasant feeling of assault. In addition, it's a plot that would probably fail to appeal to most men as they would have a feeling that they should be able to deal with their wife on their own. There are definitely fantasies and stories where a woman is spanked by several men, but I think they tend to be more exotic, as stories about women abducted by a group of soldiers or pirates, or kept hostage by a primitive tribe.

I finished reading all the stories yesterday, and similar to the challenge from last fall, I was amazed by the wide variety of stories submitted. I assigned between 4 and 9 stars on the stories that I read, and although I suspect my ratings may have been on the low side compared to what other people may have assigned, I think what I did is ultimately fair since I tried to be consistent in how I rated stories across the board.

If the process of reading the stories, I made a conscious effort to submit comments on as many as possible. In the process, I made 31 comments, which equals the number of comments I've made since joining the LSF about a year and a half ago. Considering the length of time I've been involved with the Library, I know I haven't been a particularly active commenter, (or reader for that matter), so I like that the challenges give me motivation to get more involved.

When I read stories in the LSF, I'm sometimes reluctant to leave a comment on those that already have several because I often wonder if I have anything worthwhile to add. In the case of the challenges, this isn't an issue since no comments are visible until the rating period ends. Because of this, I believe that the comments I left on the challenge entries better reflect what I really think since there isn't any opportunity for me to be influenced by what others may have said on the same story.

I just finished the challenge which for me was quite a task.
I tend to relate to the real world a bit too much while reading these stories and i will admit F/m is not my favorite genre.

But there were stories i did enjoy and one of them i enjoyed so much i gave it a 10. The first 10 a gave In a challenge. My other ratings were between 6 and 9.

I also left a comment where i could.

May I just say that as an author, any comment really makes my day, even if it says the same thing as others have said. It's nice to know that someone read the story and was impacted enough to take a moment to comment. So please, don't be shy!

Ditto - and if the comment comes years after the story was posted, it's still much appreciated.

It's perhaps even more appreciated then as it tells you the story is still alive!

To add what others have said: all comments are appreciated! If all you can write is "I read it. I liked it," that is absolutely fantastic for me to read as an author. If only because it provides actual evidence that somebody read my story and liked it (at least a little bit). It makes my day.

Even a negative comment is great: it means you actually read the story, and thought about it.

Not to change the subject away from comments, but I just can't look at those amazingly taut buttocks on the challenge picture without that old Playtex Living Bra commercial phrase springing to mind: "Lift and Separate."

A big thank you to everyone who participated in this challenge - writers and readers alike. We appreciate your support, especially those who don't normally write or read stories with F/M orientation yet have still entered into the spirit of the challenge. There are some really good stories, well worth a read if you haven't sampled them already.

The votes have been cast, and here are the results:

In 1st place with 618 votes Making Amends by flopsybunny (whoops, that's me, how embarrassing! I HONESTLY didn't rig the votes!!)

In 2nd place with 609 votes The Solitary Passion of Miss Hall by Bashful Bob

In 3rd place with 598 votes The Boyfriend by Tawsus

and the runners up are:
4th place: Bare Bottomed In The Park by flopsybunny 583 votes
5th place: The Best Employment Option by Ryan Rowland 556 votes
6th Place: The Amazonian by BashfulBob 553 votes

Kudos to all the entrants and thanks for anther successful story challenge.
Very well done everyone, and thank you once again for making the effort.
