Every once in a while, a story will "hit me where I live." It will touch a nerve and cause a big reaction, and Orion's Belt touched a nerve for me.

Time is the most valuable thing we possess - by far. Losing time is the greatest tragedy we face. And some days matter more than other days. When you reach my age and look back on it, you realize that a handful of days determine the path of your entire life.

There's a movie called "Sliding Doors," that shows how a woman's life turns on whether she just squeezes through the doors of a train in the London Tubes - or just barely misses. Orion's Belt brought that movie to mind. I recommend this story - I found it to be a great read.

I can see how you would be reminded of Sliding Doors, a movie that brings all one's wishes and hopes and missed chances to the fore. This story does the same thing. As you imply, it really is quite special.

Thirded - this story made a strange watery substance emerge from my eyes! Beautifully narrated.

I'd have that checked out if I were you - it sounds serious.

The story, however, was wonderful.

I concure with my peers this story is beautifully written and tugs at the heartstrings, a classic in my humble opinion. Well done FC

When my kids were young, I used to wear a pink dress shirt to business meetings. My older son asked me why I did wore it and I told him that it takes a real man to risk wearing pink. Kind of like Johnny Cash singing about a "boy named, Sue."

If TheEnglishMaster can own up to a watery substance, I suppose I can as well. Just picturing her preparing her traditional tray for her annual hot tub ritual, I experienced the same. When we learned how she'd been misled about Ryan's fate, I was blubbering. I held my comment to the story to, "Wow" because it was all I could get out at the time.

So, it wasn't just you, TEM.

Phew! Thanks. Mind you, I didn't quite have the courage to say 'I wept!' straightforwardly ... it's an evocative story.
