Airing tomorrow at 9.00 pm (UK time) is a documentary that may be of interest to Library members. It is entitled Timeshift: Crime and Punishment - the Story of Corporal Punishment.

It is repeated on Tuesday night/Weds morning, on the same channel, at 1.30 a.m. It is 60 minutes long.

It may be available thereafter on BBC i-player (online) for those unable to get flights to the UK at such short notice.

Thanks for the invitation to your wonderful country, but I can't make it across the pond quite that quick.

Perhaps someone will post a review?

Would it be available through the internet I wonder?

Internet availability usually depends on copyright issues. I should give it a try though.

I think there is at least one cable channel here that shows BBC programs. Will have to check it out and see.

At least they have funny trailer at BBC4 online. They are stating that the trailer contains offending material and you have to confirm that you are over 16. Then they show a man caning a chair.

That is really offending!

BBC i-player is available online (www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer) - I think they make programmes available for a few days after first broadcast. You may also be able to download it for further perusal and research purposes.

The first episode in Series 11 of Time Shift (about Justice!) is available already.

I found it on the iPlayer with no problems, just search for Timeshift, I'm going to take a look at the relevant episodes (looks like there are two, 9 and 10) over the next couple of days.

The man caning a chair sounds funny, wish I had seen that

Was it consensual?

No, and it was pretty pointless too! Good documentary I thought but I was trying to work out the point of caning that chair! It never said "Ow" once! Obviously a job for Miss Thrashbottom, then that chair would have been begging for mercy in no time at all!
