Last year I began a story... I had it outlined in my head and thought that it was a great story to post for Christmas. Alas, I ran out of time (darn those set in stone deadlines!) and put it on the back burner.
About a month ago I started working on it again, thankful that I had recorded my mental outline in the story itself (or at least enough of it to remind me where I was gong with things) and two hours ago I finished it. Now I'm going through fixing typos. The stuff from last year, I can see the typos there. The stuff from this year, well, that's another story.
So, is there anyone out there that feels like proofreading a 50 000+ word story before Christmas? If so, let me know and you can get an advanced copy of the story. A bit of warning - some of the dialogue is meant to be broken and there are times when choppy sentences (and sentence fragments) are allowed under poetic license (i.e. even with the typos fixed it's not meant to be written in perfect grammar). Currently it's one long file but probably will be broken up into 16 chapters for posting.
Basic outline: In the semi-distance future (60 years after a collapse that fragmented society) there are places where different life choices are made. Clare lives in Wellington County, which is mostly 'normal', but she had relatives that live in Hazard County - a place that's considered the most spank happy place in the nation (with the laws to back it up). Clare has a plan to see her youngest brother travel across the county line during the Christmas season so she can 'accidentally' see him spank, but it's not a perfect plan. The story is mostly F/f, with Clare discovering a tragic hole in her plan.
If you can see yourself proofreading a story like that, send me a pop up and we can exchange email addresses.
