No way is Lancashire the best county at anything. Yorkshire is number one, indeed God's own county and the head librarian is extremely suspect anyway as a Man U supporter.

It's myself who is the Man U supporter, the Head Librarian is an Owls supporter (assuming they've not gone into administration) ...

The funny thing is, ask any Man U fan, and I know a few ( not one of them a northener either) and they will tell you they are playing poorly. Yet they are top of the premier league and there champions league group. On present form Chelsea are no real danger, in fact I wouldn't be surprised to see them lose to Tottenham on Sunday. Who is going to stop them winning the Premier League? Sir Alex doesn't need his magic watch! Although it would be nice for the rest of us, who aren't Man U fans, to see Rooney back to his best. It's so depressing watching him struggle when you know the guy is a genius!

How did this descend from cricket to football via spanking? The way to hell is paved with good extensions. I was myself surprised to find that the Head Librarian lived in Essex.

There are, of course, so many similarities between cricket and spanking that one cannot doubt that cricket started as a diversionary activity for those excessively devoted to spanking, or as a training and preparation for it, just as baseball was cricket's junior (see www.seattlecricket.com if you doubt that). Maintaining a good line and length, for example; the use of a bat; phrases as "and he spanks that through the covers"...

I liked the passage in a British journalist's comments when he said the Australian fielders were encouraging their new spinner with cries of "Come on, X!", and suggested this might be because they couldn't remember his name.

Going further off topic (sorry) that reminds me of Woody Allen's diary entry:
"Should I marry W.?
Not if she won't tell me the other letters in her name."

Cheery, first you upset PinkAngel and now you are upsetting me. The creak of the turnstile, the chill winter wind fresh from the sea, the cold half time tea. You can't beat it! Once it's in your blood there is no known cure I'm afraid! Now cricket that can be boring I admit! Not when we win though!
