Google has a new auto complete thing - only it shows you webpages as you type. It also has a "blacklist" of words where it won't show you the webpages as you type.

Spank is one of them. Seriously, we are up there with some very disturbing stuff (things like 2g1c and acrotomophilia).

For a list of things that google has equated to "spank", see http://www.2600.com/googleblacklist/

Good grief, this is ridiculous for the word 'spank' to be blacklisted by Google. It's taking political correctness way over the line and someone there should be spanked.

Seems there always someone wanting to control what we can and can't do on the internet, originally Microsoft fancied their chances (but fortunately failed), next contender is likely to be Google.

I don't think that the word spank should be ostracised, but you only have to press Enter to get to all the juicy pages you want. There are darker forces at work than Google in this world. ;)

Oh for the...

Google decided not to show recommendations for erotic stuff. If someone types "spank" into a search engine, there's a 90% chance they're looking for porn. Google is acting completely within the reasonable boundaries of their decency policy here.

Its not like it won't let you search for that stuff. There are much bigger censorship issues going on around the internet than google not making search suggestions for naughty words.

So...why use Google. Use a super search engine. The word 'SPANK" will always be shown. I rarely use Google alone for anything.
