Searching for an event to add historical depth to a story.

To add depth to a story, I'll research incidences in the year. In this instance, I had an event in mind. I wanted the heroine thinking to herself, "If it was the right time for Erika to show her tits to the world at Twickenham, it's the right time for me to show mine to my boyfriend." Unfortunately, the Twickenham event was some years after the year the story was set.

It led me to thinking, how many women, young and old, cheered on Erika as she streaked across the rugby pitch in 1982? And how many 'old school' mothers, aunts, and grandmothers wanted Erika's bare bottom raised over their laps for a vigorous application of a stout wooden hairbrush?

Hi kanestrokes - can't help with the story idea, but just wanted to say I would certainly been then bare bottom spanking corner. Not that the female form bothers me, just any excuse for a spanking. And I am mid-30s and would certainly have been in favour of making her moons glow red, given half the chance

However, it is always really helpful to hang a known historical event in a story as it really does give it credence.

Totally off topic, but something I found amusing regarding the Erika Roe incident. England's captain, a large prop forward by the name of Bill Beaumont, was addressing his team. Like all prop forwards he was equipped with an immense and powerful backside.

Scrum half Steve Smith was the first to notice the heavily bosomed intruder and he brought her to his skippers attention with the words:

'Eh Bill, some bird's just run past with your arse on her chest!'

At the time, I was moved to write a short poem:

A young lady tore off her bra,
While the Aussies were playing at Twickers.
The police quickly led her away,
Before she could take off ... anything else.

There was an incident that might fit your line of enquiry back in 2003. In a Greek Island called Faliraki a young girl was arrested for exposing her breasts having taken part in a 'Beautiful Bottom' contest. She was arrested, fined ¢2000 or faced being sent to prison for eight months. Her mother then flew out from the UK to pay the fine. Surely a much better alternative would have been twelve strokes of the cane to the said 'Beautiful Bottom'? Check it out on Google.

I hope the moral of the story isn't that bottoms are beautiful, but breasts aren't. The cops on Faliraki must be damned good at setting speed traps for out of towners.

The moral of the story is certainly not bottoms are beautiful but breasts are not. The question is would the young lady have preferred a caning to her said beautiful bottom as opposed to 30 hours in a stinking cell and having the story all over the UK press?

Adding to the Greek theme, does anyone else remember an account given on daytime UK television many years ago? The lady was a travel writer and touring the Greek islands. She committed some minor traffic offence and was spotted and stopped by a policeman. He checked her documents and told her to report to the police station that evening "to be chastised". She didn't go.
