I stumbled over this today:
https://groups.google.com/g/soc.sexuality.spanking

It seems to be more or less intact.

So happy you found this. Got to reminisce back to when I was active there.

Wow, Goodgulf! I thought this historic record was long lost; I had only been able to find snippets from it on occasion, and I deleted, in my own files, all my posts and flame wars and so on so that my wife and descendants would not find them when I am gone (which, at 86, is an event not too far in the future.) But here are thousands of old posts from my days on that newsgroup, with friends like Ted and MissLilyO and so many others, brought back to life. It's a history of what it was like to be a spanko in past decades.Thank you!

Thanks very much for this Goodgulf! Like jsanon, I though that this was all gone. I was searching for the stories that I posted and I did find a few, but those are all already in the library.

So far as I can tell, this archive only goes back to May 1997. Is that correct or am I doing something wrong?

Was this group the successor to ASS? If that's so, most of my stories are probably there.

Yes, Mike/Steve, SSS was the successor to ASS and unfortunately Google doesn't really have the archives to ASS.

There is a searchable archive of an ASS "moderated" newsgroup:

https://groups.google.com/g/alt.sex.spanking.moderated

I didn't even know this group existed. Alex Birch seems to have lots posts in this group. If like me, you didn't know it existed, I doubt you'll have posted any stories there.

Likewise, the Alvaro Garces story page still survives:

Thanks for that link preacherswife. There are a couple of my stories on the Alvaro Garces page but they're both here already.

I did definitely post stories to alt.sex.spanking but, so far as I can see, none are on the link that Tired kindly posted.

No, I was wrong. I thought that it was complete, but I was wrong.

They seem to only have the moderated sex groups and none of the binaries.

Steve and Goodgulf:

Google's archive of SSS is fairly complete! They have 77,000 posts! Now, May of 1997 marks the start of SSS. Prior to that, everyone posted in alt.sex.spanking (ASS).

The migration to this new SSS group was caused by:

1. excessive SPAM in ASS
2. constant and continual bickering in flame wars
3. many servers banned all alt.sex newsgroups

SSS was the solution to solve the above problems, but required moderators who were vigilant and for many years those moderators did a fantastic job. SPAMMERS and FLAMERS were still out there, but their posts got quickly deleted. (I mean the number of "Make Money Fast" scams was simply unbelievable!)

It's not easy! For example, there were a number of writers and publishers who wanted to promote their books in SSS. To many, this is SPAM! However, if the books were spanking related, then many readers of SSS truly wanted to learn about those offerings. Next, when does a story critique become a FLAME?

Thus, the moderators really had a thankless job that was never going to be easy.

Wonderful, I managed to find my entries posted by my friend Alex Birch for the 2009 competition, which I won the 2000 word entry. For reasons I can't remember Alex had asked for some entries and I had to send via him. Brings back fond memories of Flaming Cheeks website, which introduced me to writing stories on the net. Hard to believe it was 15 years ago and I had recently retired due to a heart attack.
