Not sure what I could say, but maybe a cheer up might be an option:

I am sure someone will have useful/informative facts after 5,000 days. (Germans use the decimal point instead of a comma.)

In the Scandinavian (mainly Swedish, I think) version they wish you may live for a hundred years (but perhaps not all online).

I've been a member for but 4,773 of those days, missing the Library's infancy, joining just in time to witness the great comments explosion (I'll leave it to others' conjecture whether there's a causal relationship here).

Congratulations and thanks to flopsy and Februs for this wonderful spanking resource!

5,000 days is quite a milestone, and one which should rightfully be celebrated. However I am wondering where the 5,000 figure came from - I could not find it in the info pages. 5,000 days is about 13.7 years, suggesting the site began sometime in 2009. However, I stumbled across a story today that was accepted in 2007, whilst the website design and code is dated at the foot of page as Februs 2006-2016. This would suggest the website may actually be more than 6,000 days old. Can anyone fill us in on the early history of the site? Just curious.

Whether the site is a 'mere' 5,000 days old, or even older, I am sure we would all echo njrick's congratulations to Flopsy and Februs on creating such a wonderful resource. Many thanks.

Its in one line with

days - loaded - validated - comments

and the days are counting up 1 day each day. OK it could be the age of the library too, actually that might be more reasonable that the library is up for 5,001 days now which means 13.699 years and that correlates to the oldest stories I saw so far being from 2009.

Running the library that long shows quite the dedication. Lets hope Februs and Flopsybunny have as much fun themselves as the users have. You can be sure that most users are thankful for your dedication at least I am.

@BashfulBob

Februs and flopsy had a (much smaller) library of stories on their Bottom Lines website, dating back to at least 2007. Those stories were all moved over to the LSF when it was started in late August 2009,.but they all retained their original loading dates from BL I assume that some of the software for the stories, and perhaps other components, dates back to the BL days.. I hope that explains the situation.

(because I had a significant number of my stories on BL, some of my stories have been here the full 5000 (now 5001) days of LSF's life, making me a relative "newcomer" here compared to my own stories. I'm not alone among the LSF authors in that regard.

If I'm wrong on any of this (all of it?) then Februs clearly had good reason for firing me from the Help Desk way back when (before I even started, as it happens).

Sigh.

I'm a newcomer. I've only been here for (as of today) 4,996 days. I joined Sept 9, 2009.

Like NJ, some of my stories predate my membership of the library by quite a while, some in the >5000 day category, but like GG I am a Johnny come lately here, trailing my stories by 2 whole years.

In a time where websites appear and disappear with all too common rapidity it's quite impressive for this place to have lasted as long as it has. Well done all who have had a part to play in it.
