Another Startle

I was in an airport yesterday where some young parents were allowing their 3-4 year old to run amok. It was obvious that a number of passengers were annoyed by the parent’s inattention. I was sitting next to a couple in their 30s/40s when he stated, “If I’d acted like that when I was a kid, I’d have gotten my behind swatted.” His wife elbowed him in the ribs and said, “Start yelling like that and I’ll swat your butt right now.” Kinda made me want to start hollering to see what she might do

Always interesting to hear such snippets and then to imagine what goes on in the background.

Supermarket startles:
Spanakopita - will I ever get over reading that wrong?
Wooden spoons -I bet everybody glances at these if they are on display
Spatulas- especially big plastic ones
Of course, most supermarkets don’t carry hair care products, but sometimes a nice wooden hairbrush is on display
Same with kids’ toys - check out the games with paddles
Whipping Cream, especially extra heavy whipping cream, which is what I imagine myself producing after a extra heavy spanking.
And for some special enthusiasts of naughty activities: carrots, maybe cucumbers, maybe corn on the cob?
The best place to get a rump roast, but not the right kind.
