Fictional characters to be spanked by

I thought of Dickens, but as you indicated nobody would really like to get spanked by any of his spankers. Staying in that period, Becky Sharp could definitely need a spanking or five as might some of Hardy's heroines. I can't think of that many ideal spankers, though, but that's perhaps because I haven't been looking for them!

I find the teacher-student spanking scenario always stirring, so I'll suggest a teacher on an old (1950s) TV series in the US (sorry, UK folks likely won't know this one), "Our Miss Brooks", because as played by Eve Arden, she had a cutting wit and I could see her spanking or even wielding a cane with a touch of sarcasm. The more obvious candidate for spanker on the show was Gale Gordon, who played the school principal, Mr. Conklin, but he is such an obvious candidate that I would much prefer Miss Brooks.

That begs the question of what makes an ideal spanker. I would say they have to be strong and firm but also kind and wise, and they must not have any skeletons in their own closet which would make them a hypocrite. The only fictional character I can think of who comes remotely close is Atticus in "To Kill a Mockingbird". However, I'm sure there's no reference to him spanking in the book, and I seem to remember at one point Jem is keen to avoid getting in trouble because Atticus has never spanked him and he wants to keep it that way. I think Scout possibly gets spanked by Calpurnia the maid and also an uncle or male friend of the family. I saw a stage play once, and at one point Calpurnia stood on the doorstep and called Scout into the house, and then gave her bottom a truly resounding smack as she walked past. I was very impressed by both actresses - true dedication. (Apologies if I've misremembered any names, it's been a while.)

I'm thinking Andy Taylor from the Andy Griffith Show, I remember him telling Opie once that he knew one young man who was going to eat his spinach and if needed would be eating it standing up. He was a wise, kind and gentle dad.

Calpurnia dud indeed smack Scout in the book. When describing Calpurnia in the book Scout says that she has a hand as wide as a bed slat and twice as hard. Scout is also spanked by her uncle. I’ll throw a couple of others in there: Velma from Scooby Doo and Veronica Lodge from the Archie comics and cartoons. Morticia from the Addams Family and Lily Munster from The Munsters.

Surprised, with the discussion of TV characters. that no one has mentioned Xena, either as a Top or a switch.I in fact have a story here where Xena and her partner Gabrielle get spanked by a woman with magical powers. Xena spanking Callisto her arch enemy or a bratty Amazon princess called Varia or being spanked herself by the woman who played her mother and who looked quite toppy
And the various actresses who played Sheena Queen of the Jungle on TV or movie. And of course for jungle spankings what would be more logical than Tarzan spanking Jane, especially in the old movies where Jane was played by Maureen O'Sullivan and often appeared in very revealing attire!
In books there is Nancy Drew perhaps being spanked by her surrogate mom, housekeeper Hannah Gruen.

I've seen a few stories involving Xena and agree she'd be a great spanker.

I should have thought of Xena, especially as she had big sister vibe going on with Gabrielle a lot of the time. When she would come back from an adventure and find Gabrielle had created havoc and then thunder ‘What did you do?’ those were scenes rife with spanking potential.

It's been a while, but:
When she drunkenly laughs at the bed collapsing.
There was at least once when each of her husband's parents seemed to be fed up with the situation.
When she visits her uncle (or was it her mother's cousin?) for advice, he could have told her to stop being silly, spanked her, and sent her home.
When the husband sought advice, the woman could have advised a spanking and offered to show him how to do it by spanking Hayley Mills' character in her office.
When her husband discovered that she had been going out dancing with her brother-in-law.
When she was (unwittingly?) teasing her brother-in-law in the bath tub scene.
Her parents could have done that (or advised it) when the parents got together and talked things out.
At the housing office when she revealed that she didn't have any children - the man behind the desk seemed very angry that they were wasting his time.
And the fight scene at the end, I would say it happened then, but the shouts stopped too abruptly.

But those are based on old memories - and perhaps wishful thinking.

Yes, it sounds like poor Hayley would have been going from knee to knee if you'd been directing it! A wonderful film though, and I love the fact you have so many memories of it, as I do.
