Fascination with the Paddle

I've seen canoe paddles in "souvenir size" - which could be used for fun.

One of the "wall hanger" canoe paddles is a mere 18" long. Very useful for spanking.

I remember when I was a kid reading one of the Corey Ford humor columns in Field and Stream where a wife got whacked on the butt with a canoe paddle by her husband, in a domestic squabble.
The funny part was when she took him to court and the judge dismissed the case when she refused to show the evidence of being hit in court, that is bare her bottom! Judge commented something to the effect of " with what you ladies are wearing for bathing suits nowadays why would she object! This long before the suits of today!

I once cracked a joke (on Bottomlines) about a beach comber who spanked a surfer girl with a surfing board. That was one mean spanking!

Some time after the Dragnet episode, my dad told me of my grandmother using a lard paddle on him. This was designed to stir pork fat while it was cooking in a kettle over a fire. This is how she made lard. She only gave him one swat, but that was one serious paddle. It was stored in a smokehouse which burned down in 1998, so I'm giving the size of the paddle from memory, and I never actually measured it. It was about 4 feet long, with the handle being longer than the blade. The blade was four inches wide, or a little less. and was about 3/4 inch thick. It was made of some kind of hard wood. never even saw the paddle used to make lard, as my mother always bought lard at the grocery store.

Mention of a paddle used to stir lard reminded me that there was a similar paddle with the old hand churns that were used in making butter. Seem to recall seeing somewhere in an article written back in the 30s that a lot of the mischief that the younger generation was getting into called for having this butter paddle applied to offenders backsides.

They didn't use the paddle in school in my part of the U.S.--it was only in the South. I still find it ugly. It doesn't hurt as much as some other implements and yes, it makes a lot of noise. Maybe it's a personality characteristic, but I like the cane because it is quiet (at least in the giving) and it is easy for a woman to use easily and effectively with a flick of her wrist. The words "you have been a naughty girl and you are going to be caned" should inspire fear--and arousal. Spanking is also more personal, as usually it occurs over a lap, in my case, a maternal one. Usually now spankings in schools where they paddle are given over clothes. In our home, we were spanked on the bare.

Lesliejones, I beg to differ. I had some females teachers, some quite petite who paddled as hard as a 250 lbs. football coach, and it hurt just as much. Yes, the paddle is loud, but it announces when in use that someone out in the hall or in the Principal's office is currently having a very bad day.

I did write a short story about a canoe paddle supposedly being used to give a spanking. It was in response to a story challenge on another website where the first line was given: "Her eyes widened when she saw the paddle." It's not in the LSF because there is no spanking in it, but I'll send it to anyone who wants a laugh at their own expectations.

I'm not sure lesliejones meant that it was difficult for a woman to use a paddle, just personally she preferred the cane. All one has to do is watch some F/F spanking videos to see that women can be very handy with a paddle.
True that the cane, and the switch, are quieter but if the recipient of a caning is yelping or otherwise vocalizing anyone in earshot will know something is going on!

When I was in school (in the 50s and early 60s) the paddle was used only by an assistant principal. But it was also widely used in fraternities and social clubs. In one case it was used by a high school honor society. I was present when one of the clubs paddled all the pledges. Each member gave each pledge one swat (over clothes). Then one of club "sweethearts" was offered the opportunity to use the paddle. She went up to the bent over pledge and put the paddle against his rear but then chickened out. Too bad.

The only mixed paddling I participated in was a high school honor society where each boy or girl who was being "initiated" was give a single swat. Quite memorable to see the girls getting swatted and then jumping p to rub their backsides!
